glocks are less expensive than barettas. check their sites,
barettas go for 800-900 new while glocks are typically in the 400
dollar area

$100-$500
if its something important like a pistol, then that is something i wouldnt; skimp out on.
Spend the extra and go for a Sig, a CZ, or an FN. Or go old reliable and get a Colt 1911

What is this for again? CC, Home Protection, drive-bys, or plinking? As an owner of one, a 1911 is too much pistol for all of the above.

Don't go glock. My girlfriends father is a gunsmith and says that they've got more problems with glocks than with any other maker.
Baretta is nice, and Kimber makes some good pistols too.

For 100-400 your not gettin an auto matic unless you get a glock, id go with a ruger .357 revolver.

From what I've heard, Glocks are fairly prone to the infamous kB!

my friends dad has about 15 different glocks, he has one in every romm
of his house and in every car. hes not had any problems
yet. the 1911 is far too expensive for him, and the glock carries
twice as many rounds as the colt.

Well chances are if he has one in every room and in every car they dont get shot off much. Glocks arent all theyre cracked up to be, they jam, and they def. arent acruate at all.

Yep, even I could have told you that, glocks are pretty ghetto in my eyes still. The crappy black market pistol that backfires or jams.

You are not getting a Sig new or in anything other than a .22 for under $500 retail as far as I know.

True, Kimbers are a tad on the pricey side, but why skimp? I say if you're going to buy a pistol at all, get a quality one.
If you've never shot a pistol at all.....pick up a revolver. Learn on that.

To piggy-back on Reb, literally, if its your primary protection it has to be a revolver. I wouldn't want my only shot to be a jam.

Yeah it is kind of fail proof to just cock the hammer and pull the trigger, or hell even just pull the trigger. And in my opinion double action revolvers are more fun to shoot.

Isreali Arms Desert Eagle is always nice... plenty of stopping power But just a tad expensive.
If you want a good all around gun, the 1911 is your choice I'd say.

so that guy with the glocks also has a raging bull (454) he let me
shoot 5 rounds through it. big kick, almost hit myself in the
face with each shot. i watched him shoot his sw 500, very little
muzzle raise, because the barrel is quite long and top-heavy
