Yeah... I'm a bit skeptical until further evidence. Others have claimed to be spontaneously cured of AIDS in the past. In each case it has turned out they weren't quite cured, or weren't quite sick to begin with.

Maybe people should just use a condom in the first place, then I wouldn't
have to hear about AIDS all the time.

He says he would do everything in his power to help find a cure, yet wont go through further testing. I think he may be afriad to find that one of the tests was false and that he never had HIV to begin with or that he is not really cured.

I'm not sure I'll believe it without further tests, but it stands to evolutionary evidence that eventually a human will be born who can fight off this disease, and they will be spread those genes and while the rest of us are dying off they will continue on and repopulate.
It happens all the time with species all over. Humans are just slower at it, with one new generation every 20 years or so.

Stranger things have happened. I forget the name, but a doctor in the kinshasa area. British guy, he was treating a tent full of patients with Ebola and Marburg. Stuck himself with used needels at least 20 seperate times.
He went outside, had a glass of wisky and a cigerette, never showed any simptoms.

AIDS guy would be MUCH stranger than that. Plenty of people have high resistance to some virus or other - that's pretty standard stuff. I'm sure there are plenty of people that are essentially immune to HIV as well. This is why vaccines work with viruses, but we can't cure any virus diseases.
It would take a much more powerful immune system to defeat a virus once established. This also happens - we all get over our colds eventually, and people do survive Ebola infections as well. HIV, however, is one tough virus. There are reports of some people keeping it from breaking into AIDS, but as of now no credible reports of anybody actually beating HIV back.
It probably will happen eventually (and this guy just might be it) but it will be a very big deal when it happens.

An actual CURE would be more than nice - it would be revolutionary.
Keep in mind that we have not yet managed to cure a single disease caused by virus. Not one. So if we can truly cure AIDS, that would have ramifications far beyond AIDS itself. It would revolutionize medicine.

This might be natural selection. He has just survived aids, and will pass on this favorable gene, perhaps. Asuming this is genuine.

I think he means because viruses are not technically alive. They have no reproductive capabilities of their own. Without host cells, so that they can borrow the materials to duplicate, they can't do what they do.
It's why they give you antibiotics for bacterial infections, and why those won't work on viral infections. Vaccines are far more effective because they won't allow the virus to take hold in the first place.
