I may be overreacting about this, but this is probably the single most interesting news article I have ever read just because of the quote,

"The one remaining area that religion can now lay claim to is the origin of the universe," Hawking said, "but even here, science is making progress and should soon provide a definitive answer to how the universe began."

All of Hawking's stuff is like that.  He does an amazing job of making cutting-edge astrophysics seem accessible.
