Yes, I searched... ;)

My valve spring got rusty.  I was doing milling, was afraid some filings might have got in the vel. screw. hole, and cleaned it out, and apparently didn't dry it enough.

How do I get the ring out so I can remove the brass hammer?
If the spring still seems salvageable, should I keep it?  How much force does it take?

If you actually had you would have found several dozen answers to your question. Right here in maint.& repair try CVX Valve. My explanation...3rd post down.
