ok here is the plan *it'll never happen but it would be soooo cool* we send an orbital defence paintball gun into space, and when you get in one of them sticky little situations where your opponent is in a pretty fortified bunker and your traden fire with him, push ur little button and put in his coordinants while your hiden, and about 20 pounds of paintballs rains down on the little punk... i u know it wouldnt take any fun out of it, seeing that many paintballs raining down would make you smile from ear to ear, it may be cheap but it would be cool. but like i said, unless your one board NASA worker, it aint gunna happen. it may look kinda like this... only orbiting earth in space

lets take out the exsplosives from a hellfire missle and put paintballs in thur... and it can be laser guided and well we may leave a little bit of the war head just cuz it'll be fun... we set it up in a orbital defence system, we have 6 missles in each satalite, and have about 35 of these babys orbiting... give the missle heat shields to get rid of the atmosphere problem, the missle blows open with a charge placed in the front, and the paintballs rain down like its armagedon... then the war head just blows up in the air as a distraction for the other team...

The biggest problem with firing paintballs from space is that even if you do get it past the atmosphere, and after somehow keep it from freezing while it's traveling to the ground, the ball will be traveling so fast that it would go right through anything it hit, I.E. the play you are targeting. Imagine taking your marker and jumping its speed to around 100,000+ fps, then shooting someone. No they arne't. Mortars have a much smaller warhead than an artillery shell, and they're generally fused to explode on contact with the ground. Artillery can be fused to explode above the ground and shower a target with shrapnel. The advantages of mortars is that they can be used close in, and carried by one or two soldiers. That's not to dismiss mortars- I love the things. They aren't more powerful than artillery, though. ------------- "Abortion is not "choice" in America. Mortars have proximity fuses now(explode when it is close and not any contact) and artillery what I meant mortars is come in closer to 90 degrees of impact than artilery does so more shrapnel gets dispersed. Artillery is steep angle so 1/4-1/3 gets imbedded in the ground. And yea I know artillery can go alot further and have some large shells but giving a mortars size. |

When a mortar shell explodes over the ground, it has far more 'downwards' velocity, hence shrapnel has less chance to expand laterally before it strikes the ground. An artuillery shell comes in at an angle, and the geometry is such taht the shrapnel covers a significantly larger area in a cone that extends from the explosion outwards in the same difrection as flight. both are devastating if used properly, but the geometery of an artilly shell gives it more lethality. I think we should make a semi auto C3 with a cyclone feed that can be
used to snipe with a three foot neon colored barrel and a paint bayonet
you can use to stab paint on people!

I dunno man... The spray paint doesn't have an adjustable velocity, you might get in trouble for firing hot. The spray's brilliant though. Man I had thought of the paintball on the moon idea a long time ago. Then it turned into this big technical debate type thing. It gave me somewhat of a headache. That would be sort of cool to have some sort of air support type weapon in paintball. I had thought of a cannon for scenario games that would crono at higher then 300fps volocities, but had a minimum range to insure that the paintball slowed down to 300fps before it got near any players. It would fire groups of paintballs, like 20 per shot or something. Or it could launch squadbusters as an option.

What you do is you go to a museum and buy an old 6 pound gun from the 1800s. Dremel out the breech block, and hook it up to a CO2 tank. Dump about 200 paintballs down the barrel, and boom, grapeshot. Or they could even makes really huge paintballs, like the size of a grapefruit, and we can do paintball naval batles with sailing yachts, each with like four six pounders mounted on the sides. We'd need some kind of paintball chain shot to tangle their rigging, though... Oh, and each boat could have ten guys with normal markers to snipe at the people on the other boat, but they'd have to wear red jackets and funny hats 'cause they're Paint Marines. ------------- "Abortion is not "choice" in America. The moon does not have zero gravity :( When I get my pilot license next summer I'll attach canisters on paint to the wing struts with a cord running inside, call in an air strike and everbody gets paint rained on them. No, I'm just kidding that would be an idiotic thing to do. |

Or you could just get one of the miniguns Tippmann used on the HEllhound and mount in centrally un derneath the fuselage. Presuming you'd be flying a cessna, it would be like a paint A-10. Duh. Oh yes because paintballs definetely travel faster than aircraft. I got new for ya bud, they already do that except with lasers (laser tag in the air!). But in all seriousness I have a nice RC plane that I can easily attach things to. I am getting 2 cameras sometime within a month to mount, probably one strait forward and one strait down or to the side. It would be cool to have at a scenario game, spy plane, add a whole new demension to the game. |

Or, you know, make paint shells with a little black powder charge in it, with a battery for the spark that will happen on impact and rig it so it activates when dropped. Then you don't waste your plane. |

If some one was good with wires & technology you could get an rc boat & put a marker on it & get it to shoot from the remote. Not sure it would work but it would be kinda nifty to see work or get an rc plane to drop paint on the enemy with some cameras. |
