This is my Tippmann 98C:

I removed the origonal braided cable and replaced it with a male adapter going directly into the powertube. The remote line I have serves as a reliable expansion aparatus. After removing the ASA threads from underneath the grip I decided that I would use the two holes already there to build a solid stock. Unlike other bulky expensive stocks (why people buy them I have no idea) my stock does not hinder my mask or line of sight straight down the shroud of my flatline barrel. I ground a hole through my front sight and placed a fiber optic bead in it which makes aiming a bit easier if my mask fogs. The tube clips I use are 20+3 and allow me to remove the hopper from my line of sight and removes a large and easy target from my opponents when I crawl or manuver (I not exactly trigger happy anyway). You might think the tube idea is crazy but look at what we all used to use in the 1980s, the tube doesnt jam because I have it set at a constant 15 degree angle. I embedded sling adapters into the back of the stock and using the first screw hole of the flatline shroud. The suppressor in the pic is MOCK. It is hollow on the inside and is purely for show. The rocket cock prevents dirt and debris from getting in my gun while manuvering. Overall I've had my 98 for as long as I can remember and I will never part with it. I've put blood and sweat into my gun and it serves me well. Tippmann guns are all I use. (the paintjob is also my work, its rough but it works. Paintjobs are nothing special anyway...)
Overview: 98C, Flatline, Rocket-cock II, smartparts sticky grips, custom stock, male adapter to remoteline off of powertube, custom MOCK suppressor, custom stock off of grip, custom sighting, custom paintjob, custom tube direct-feed system, sling

Thnx for the good comments, this is one of the most rugged and ergonomic guns you'll see. I've tested many ideas and this is the conclusion of nine years of owning this gun. I believe in only modding your gun if it affects your performance in the game. Plus, I've spent a third of the money most guys with 'cosmetic' dress-up kits do. My stuff works and is practicle.

Wow that's so fugly.... in a totally awesome sort of way.
It does look very ergonomic, and I love the gas-line-going-through-the-grip mod, or whatever exactly you did.
Definately a Custom 98 Custom.

First off, your English doesn't make SENSE. Notice the "S" in place of the "C".
I like the paint job. It looks great. I like the flatline, but not the MOCK surpressor, the double trigger, or the stock. I especially hate the tube, but that is just my opinion.

Well first off, I bought the double trigger when I first got my gun so I just decided to keep it on there for the hell of it. Secondly I agree that THERE ARE NO SNIPERS IN PAINTBALL. My gun is fairly accurate but I'm not going any further then that.
And the mock suppressor I made because I have entirely too much time on my hands...heh

He missed the "1" key.
As for mods, though flatlines are very good, they aren't very accurate.
With limited paint I think it would be better to have a straight
barrel. If you want backspin then go for the Apex barrel because it is
reported to be more accurate than the flatline at range.

Nice. It is practical, but I agree with TolgaK that with limited paint, I would want a straight bore barrel with superior accuracy, maybe something along the Dye or Freak line... but thats just me.

im conservative with paint, but i have the capability of being trigger happy. if you want to ditch the profile, get a q loader, if you have some (a lot...) of cash lying around. with a q loader, you have 140 rounds that feed faster than the halo if needed. plus the spare pods fit into harnesses. if you cant tell, i want a q loader. i think warp feeds look a little bulky.

Well I am thinking of getting a qloader but not for this gun. I have another 98C that I've modified the sear so it'll shoot...really damn fast, I dunno I haven't clocked it. I read on the qloader.com that if you give the loading spring 16 turns you can unload 100 rounds in one second. I think that should be plenty fast enough to keep my (super) 98 loaded. Even though I really dont care for that much firepower I just want to prove that it can practically be done. Ive seen other guys pull it off and so, what the hell.

I think that you absolutly need a hopper on there. Get a Q-Loader if that's your thing, but you need more than 20 balls. Another great upgrade would be a Response Trigger. If firepower doesn't interest you, then try to upgrade to HPA. If you're not shooting much, then a $70 47ci 300psi tank will be more than enough to power your gun. I shoot a cheap tank like that with my RT and it is plenty. One more thing you might want is a Palmer Stabilizer for effeciency.

You would be very supprised at how well you can play with only 20 rounds. The standard M16 clip only holds 30 rounds of 5.56mm. I should probably point out that I carry two spare clips loaded if I need them. With a lot of guys focusing on making thier markers shoot faster, I've taken the approach to try and make my gun as accurate and ergonomic as possible. Sure, I could put a hopper on there, but you've never seen me play a game of woodsball. Try it some time and you'll see its not that hard. On top of that I can play paintball all day with one case of paint. When you have less paint you will focus more on manuvering and using cover to outwit rather then outgun your opponents.

I DO play paintball all day with about a case of paint. People are always saying "Real guns don't hold lots of shells!" Well guess what? These aren't real guns. Even if you were to compare a paintball gun to an actual gun, it would be more like a sub machine gun than anything else. Sub machine guns hold more than 20 shells. No matter how much all the mil sim guys want their guns to look real, they'll never shoot like real guns.
I've played games with my RT not even shooting half a hopper(thats under 80 for you slow guys) and taking out the entire 3 man team I was playing against. That's including using my RT for coverfire so my team could advance at the start.
Sure, anyone can grab a fast gun and outgun someone every now and then, but when you take a player that grabed decent hits playing with a semi against autos, then give him a gun that will shoot 15+ BPS, and he'll mow down the competition.
Overall, firepower (especially cheap firepower like a RT) is just a great thing to have. When you are a team player (and I strongly suspect these "I don't need many paintballs cause I can move like crazy" people aren't team players) you sometimes need to sacrifice your paintballs to supress your opponent for your buddy next to you. You just can't afford to do that with 20 or less paintballs.
I agree, there's tons of people out there just hiding behind their guns and wasting every bit of paint they can just to be annoying to the other players, but if you want to play with the best in your area, you have to have firepower, which requires a decent hopper.
I don't know, maybe you play that "hardcore" woodsball in the thick forest where you have no team and you crawl around on your gut for hours. If that's the case, then you can do whatever and still be effective, but for anything else, that just won't cut it. If you think so, then you are badly mistaken.

Well I think the real issue here is the fact that if you and I were on the same team I would want you to lay down suppresive superior firepower while I raid the bunker.
You and I would just be playing different roles. You have yours and I have mine.
Trust me, I have nothing against guys with heavy firepower, its just not MY style. I just wanted to share the way I like to play paintball. I am thankfull every time I have a guy with a mongoose or an angel who will lay it down think on a bunker in order to allow me to flank it.
There isnt just one kind of player on the field, and I dont expect anyone to do it exactly the way I do it or vise versa.
By the way, I do enjoy showing off my pump skills every once in a while with my old tiger shark. Its good to mix it up.

This statement just proves that you know little about most styles of paintball. You can't just have one guy laying down ALL of the cover fire. Players have to help each other out no matter what their position. Even frontmen are required to spray a little paint every now and then. Having only 20 rounds is just limiting yourself.
Another couple of reasons why I lack respect for your opinion is the statements you have made in other threads. For one, you don't know how to tune your response trigger. This wouldn't be so bad if you didn't go around talking about the full auto mod you are putting on your gun. If you know anything about how your gun works, you would know that you just can't get those full auto mods to work.

Look, you dont have to agree with the way I play. Really, I dont care.
Besides, the fact that I just bought my A-5 last month and I am still figuring it all out is none of your concern. I've been playing paintball since I was a kid. Pumps and tippys are all I've ever used.
I play pick-up games, scenerio, and woodsball. I have no team and I dont need one. I have a good group of guys I go out and play with at our local field almost every weekend and I go to bigger games every once in a while.
I have developed and adapted my own style of play that I like to use. You, very obviously, have your own way you like to do things. So, enough about yourself already. If I played a game of paintball with you you would be fine. I am a team player and I always collaberate with whoever is put with me on my team. Your probably trying to paint the picture that I am guy that is stuck up and likes to go off on his own all the time but its not true. Personally I like the gun quite a bit. However I'm not a huge fan of remotes, ever consider running a vertical 4oz tank?
I often play with a 45round hopper and 9oz for mobility.
Your tube set up looks just about jam proof, unlike my 45round hopper.
For the tool that's trying to turn this into a sniper thread and busting out dictionary definitions, search for other sniper threads and see how well the dictionary definition holds up. Besides, when people talk about a paintball sniper, that's not what they mean. They mean they try to play the role of a military sniper. Trying to prove or disprove the feasability of that style of play is impossible using a different definition than the useage you're debating.

but dont get me wrong, i love what you did to it haha, its good that u support the combined arms style of play also, woodsball needs more of these types of players.

Ditto; however,if I were you, I would also consider the following options:
- Get the vertical adapter, hang a good x-chamber off of it, then attach a small (4-6 oz) co2 bottle
- This would provide improved ergonomics by keeping the tank from
being an impediment when you had to fire from close to the ground
- A six oz tank would be less likely to overpressurize and blow out the disc in warmer weather play than a 4 oz
- Or, you could visit one of the sites that cater to stock
class/pump players and find one of the stocks that has an intergral ASA
for mounting the tank under the stock
- You could probably use it as a guide for modifying your stock
P.S. I award you a happy-clappy

Trying to prove or disprove the feasability of that style of play is impossible using a different definition than the useage you're debating. | actually I wasnt trying to turn this into a sniper thread! I just get so sick of people saying theres no sniping in paintball so I was trying to STOP this thread from becoming a sniper one

Here's something I made in August:

Holds about 13 and is still prone to jamming. I've only used it once
though. I have another tube that holds 18 and another that holds 23.
I was gonna put a pump kit on it but I figured I'd rather sell it and save for a Carter.

How have you owned it for 9 years?

Haha... I wonder if people realize that the reason it's called a 98 is because it
came out in 1998. Lil useless Tippmann info for the day!

Thanks for the comment.
I am currently considering cutting off the foregrip and running a
CO2 bottle vertically using some spare ASA parts I dug up.
I really like the setup on my A-5 using the stock vertical threads
so I'm thinking about it.
Please dont add the the idiotic sniper comments plz. |
Not tryin to say it's a bad idea, but I just see something wrong with a
tank running vertical, like breaking it off at the valve should you
trip, or dive, or whatever... not to say it couldn't happen with where
it was, but it just seems it would happen easier to a vertical, I may
be wrong though...
