I'll set this story up a bit so everyone doesn't get too confused.
On Tuesday, me and my girlfriend skipped school. We went back to my house and "hung out" for a few hours, then went to the mall. While we were at my house, she called her friend James, and told him that she was skipping with me and that she had smoked some good weed, but not to tell her other friend Dan. Well, James apparently told Dan (who was also skipping school and smoking weed). Dan called her mom, and narc'd us out. So we both got yelled at, and got Saturday school; she also got grounded. Bad enough, right? Apparently not. Her parents called the cops, who sent her to a psychologist (she couldn't be arrested since she's only 16), who determined that the reason she smoked weed was because she's depressed. So he sent her to HavenWyck Mental Institution/Drug Rehab Hospital... I have no idea when she's getting out. I thought she was kidding when she told me; it's fricking ridiculous. Granted, she shouldn't have been smoking weed (not from a legal aspect anyways), but that is NOT grounds to send her to a mental institution. -------------

My good friend VINCENt (that's how he prefer his name be written) was sent to a hospital after his parents found out that he smoked weed one time. He said it was the funnest time he had ever had in his life. Nothing like being in drug rehab when you're not on any drugs. She most likely won't be there very long when most of the folk there realize that she's only smoking weed occasionally. Unless she actually has some real problems and starts going crazy she should be fine. |

Well, she told me she used to be extremely depressed, but that now she's a lot better.
The reason the doctor thought she's still depressed is that she has a cut on her arm, and her mom told them it was self mutilation, even though it wasn't. Yes, her mom and stepdad are pricks. -------------

Lies! I'm still on a 3-year probation period due to my being really stupid at the mere age of 13. I had 4 felony charges pressed on me, and 2 non-felony charges, all convicted except one non-felony. -------------

Maybe it's different for felonies. Where I live, the cops don't arrest people 16 or under. Then again, we're all just smoking weed, not doing all kinds of felonies. -------------

They sent her away Friday, and she was supposed to get evaluated to see how long she should stay.
If she's not back in school by tomorrow, I'm going to drive up there and see if I can visit. If not, I'm going to throw a bloody fit. I'm still pretty much pissed as hell. -------------

I didn't even smoke weed; I haven't in almost four months.
I'm proud of myself. My friends thought I would have given in by now and just smoked a bowl, but I've kept myself from doing it. The closest I've gotten was to hold the bowl up to my mouth and ALMOST hit it (I was super drunk) just out of muscle memory, but then my brain kicked back on. -------------

You guys skipped school to smoke weed together. That's lame dude. I mean I think smoking weed is one of the dumbest decisions ever, but hey if you wanna smoke it, then you guys need to keep it quiet. I mean why the hell would she call someone and be like, "We're skipping and getting so high!" There are consquences for first making the mistakes and then making the mistake of basically telling on yourself. Was she really depressed or was it a lie to help get her out of the trouble?

genrally her parants will have a list of people shes allowed to be visited by/talk to if your not on the list dont flip out. they will pwn you.
anyway if you can talk to her just tell her to do everything shes told and dont try to act hard. if you have no outbursts or signs of dangerous behavor they wont hold you more than 2 weeks due to insurance. if she is told she has to take meds then make sure the parents talk to another doctor outside of the hospital. many antidepressents have bad effects on younger people. my mom used to bring me for skipping school and ide flip out and get tossed in for 2 weeks at a time... took me tull i was 12 to relize that they cant do anything if you act normal and you dont flip out. ------------- saving the world, one warship at a time. |

ummm that's a perfectly good reason to send someone there. it's a drug. it's illegal. and let's see, she's skipping school to hang out with a boyfriend and do illegal drugs. that sounds perfectly fine and maybe it's the help she needs to get back on the right track. education is important. senior year, i realize it now and am tryign my hardest to do well. one of my friends who was a big stoner used to skip a lot. last year he missed 32 days straight. how he hid it from his parents, idk, but once they found out they sent him to a behavioral institute like the one your friend was sent to. and you know what, to this day he has been clean. hell he brought his grades up and is exempt from exams this semmester. i bet him last year that he wouldn't quit and that was one bet i was glad to lose. bunk, maybe you could step back into reality and take a look at the world around us. life goes on fine without being a rebel, doig the wrong thing, and breaking the law. might i suggest you join the rest of us? -------------

Drugs are always a dumb call, as is skipping school. Maybe that makes me sound lame, but having gotten into university and even gottena small scholarship, I can say I can look back at being a loser in high school without regret. You're still young, as is she. Plenty of time to turn things around and make successes of yourselves. Drugs are just a waste of bloody money. If you care about her as much as you say you do, then bea positive example for her to follow so she doesn't end up as one of those slacker skids who stumble through high school, barely pass, and work a low paying entry level job for the rest of their lives. Wow, some people on this forum really suck. My girlfriend's parents really suck too and unless you've been in a
situation like that where someone is really bad to someone you really
care about and you can't do anything about it you can't really
understand it and there is absolutely no reason to be hateful to someone just because they are talking about their life. Anyway, that really sucks man. All I know to tell you is try not to make it worse by freakin out if you can't help her. The best thing you can do is just make sure you'll be able to help her through her situation when she gets out. If you freak out and they keep you away from her she'll have just that much more to deal with. ps Who wants to be that they'll deal with her depression/"drug problem" with more drugs? -------------  |

You are an ignorant tool. Just because you're depressed doesn't mean you are "emo." She is either no longer depressed (like she says), or she does a damn good job of hiding it normally. Oh, Hades... I believe there is enough feedback here to justify the post. I wanted to see if everyone else thought it was as ridiculous as I did. You know, you're probably one of the least stereotypical people I know........ I used to smoke weed like a fiend, yet I still have a 3.5 GPA and scored a 29 on the ACT. I miss probably 3-5 days of school a year, and one to two are for skipping. My girlfriend gets decent grades (somewhere around a 2.8), and rarely skips school either. You seem to think that weed makes you automatically unsuccessful... Well, you're dead wrong. I'm going to college after this year, and weed is not going to stop me. A hell of a lot of the top 10% of my graduating class smoke weed, and we're all turning out just fine so far.
They may, or they may not. Her stepfather is a complete jerkoff. He really doesn't give two <craps> about what's going on. Every time I've seen him, he's been a condescending asshole to her. I can't speak about her mother, because I've only met her briefly. All I know about her are the (biased) stories that my girlfriend has told me. The picture she paints isn't any more pleasant than her stepfather, but a lot of kids talk bad about their parents. Being emo (IMO) is when you complain about being depressed. Simply being depressed doesn't make you emo. Also, as to your comment about me "not just sitting back and watching her smoke." You are a tool. I haven't smoked weed in 4 months. I'm not going to stop someone else if they want to though. I just chilled with her and talked while she smoked. -------------

As an addition, I don't know if I stated this earlier, but I have no problem with being punished for what we did.
However, I DO have a problem with a so-called "treatment" that will be more detrimental than helpful. Taking someone out of class to lock them up in a building with a bunch of psychos (this is an actual mental ward in addition to drug rehab) isn't exactly going to make them less depressed, or help them get good grades either. This was more of a commentary on the irresponsibility of her parents and the "system" that put her in there. She called yesterday, and told me that she hadn't even talked to a doctor more than once, and they were basically just keeping her locked up in a room by herself. If that's good mental healthcare, then everyone in prison should be happy as they've ever been. -------------

Oh I dont think it is rediculious for your parents to put your woman in the shrink ward. You told everyone that the gal smokes weed not for recreation but because she is depressed alot. Well believe it or not the gal was but in the straight jacket fashion ward not because she is a toker but because Blondie has learned to cope with her problems like the rest of the world. Obviously she thinks hitting the bong is the normal thing to do when it hurts inside so they locked her up with the looneys too teach her how to be normal. |
