So what do you guys think about them? Personally, I think they kinda stick out and I definitley don't like the velcro idea. I'm still debating on the pockets.

Looks bulky and ugly.

I like them.

Couple of the officers down the hall were recently issued their sets last week. Have only seen a couple of the enlisted with them yet... and they were senior enlisted.

I like what they have to offer as opposed to the old BDUs. The all-in-one camo scheme doesn't seem popular amongst paintballers... and I haven't received much feedback from any real warfighters (as opposed to MARPAT, which gets high praise from Navy Corpsman I work with).
I don't think it sticks out any more than the traditional Woodland. Plus, learning from Iraq... where one quickly shifts from wooded to grassland to desert to urban all within 500m... the all-in-one is more functional than the seperate 3-color desert/woodland choices of before.

I won't be going out and getting a set for paintballing... and I don't have any combat feedback from any of the Army guys across the hall yet... but at the very least, I'd say they are an improvement over the old.

I saw some of the recruiters at school wearing them.

That other stuff, the http://www.multicampattern.com/index.htm - Mulit-Cam , that's amazing.

I'm not a bit fan of the velcro either. I dunno about it, it looks like it used to match woodland enviroments but got faded out. I guess it's ok, but MARPAT is still cooler.

EDIT: That multicam looks great. I might have to get some of that.

Yeah I was impressed by the Crye product (multi-cam). According to the manufacturer, as a contender, it outperformed the ACU pattern in the trials prior to the Army picking a contract. But they opted for the digi anyway.

While I never planned on getting ACU... I probably would spring for Crye if it wasn't so darn expensive. Although with all the camo I currently have, I really shouldn't be investing in any more.

Now, the multi-cam looks pretty cool. The biggest fault I have with the acu's is the velcro. Velcro just normally doesn't work well after it gets wet several time. Which leads me to believe it won't work very well in mud either. I've come to this conclusion because my watch, the strap is velcro, it just doesn't work well after it's been wet a few times and I'd imagine it's the same way with alot of mud.

1. Velcro Sucks, I was a lifeguard and after getting my velcro watch wet when making saves, It doesn't work well...
2. Can we say copycat? The Marine Corps gets somthing good for once, not Army hand-me-downs, and what does the Army do? Attempts to get something better(and fail miserably). The only reason why the army didnt get MARPAT is becfause the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor is stuck all over it...

I was down at Ft. Pickett 3 weekends ago doing GSAR exersices with the army CDC unit down there. We decided to spice it up a little, and make it CSAR(just for the fun of it), and a squad from thier unit went out and acted as opfor. About half of them had the digi's, and the other half had woddland. We were in a hardwood forest, during this exercise. My fire-team was moving throug the woods, when my point man(he has awesome eyes, BTW) sees this gray shape, laying next a tree about 100 yards away. We moved around the flank of the gray shape to see what it was. We then were fired upon by multiple opfors, we returned fire, but lost because of the fac that they had us pinned down by fire supieriority(we were using miles gear), there were 8 of them, and 4 of us. After the fact, from talking to the squad leader, I found out that the gray shape laying next to the tree was him, waiting to ambush us...

So my review of the camo, is thumbs down.

There was a soldier who came into my work the other week wearing them, didn't get a chance to talk to him about it though.

I think as far as the bulkiness goes, it will improve when it's worn in a bit, it looked really new and awkward, almost stiff in those pictures.  Isnt velcro a little loud at times too....

It's basically industrial grade velcro, so it will take a bit to get it off. As far as stiffness goes, I remember my MARPAT being ultra-starched when I first got it. It takes a bit of wearing to get it broken in.

Heh I remember this being posted sometime last year. I don't see that being very practical though. It looks white to me.

Being a robust fellow, I am wondering if they have to use bigger pixels in digital camouflage for me?

lol. yup they stole the idea from the Corps. And correct me if i am wrong. the Corps. doesnt use the velcro either. correcnt me if i am wrong there as well.
i think the army's is butt ugly. and not very camoish for the woodland. more like an urban camo. as for enlisted. a lot of recruiters get them that ive seen.

I don't know if I like it. I mean, I'm no soldier but from a purely asthetic stance, it just doesn't look neat. Not to mention the velcro....That multicam is awsome stuff though....dang....It'd be funny if the Army change camo again next year....lol..

Kristopher,
The Corps ripped off the Canadians anyway, so who cares if the army ripped them off?

Also, the Marpat seems to be just as stiff when new, but it breaks in. There's no velcro on MARPAT.

yeah, it does seem more urban. I'd like to see some pictures of it in different terrains.

It's not as ugly as what the Air Force tried to switch to a few years ago.  (Which was designed with no input from the folks that would be wearing it.)  Fortuanately, http://usmilitary.about.com/cs/airforce/a/newafuniform.htm - this design has since been somewhat modified.

Edited Note:  The troops in the field had some very disparaging comments about these;  "Gucci-flage" was one of the few reprintable ones.
