I view homosexual people as a religion. I don't let it bother me, as long as they don't try to push what they believe on me. There isn't any reason for me to hate or dislike them.

how does this make homosexual couples like heterosexual couples? because one idiot decides he/ she cant control themself in a relationship and lacks the skills necessary to communicate civilly or without violence? that sounds like more of a mental/social disorder than a matter of sexual orientation. just my 2 cents

Whatever my beliefs against homosexuality . . . however much it goes against my morals, if you enter a union/bond you better damn well be in love.

I am sick of society viewing marraige as a short term commitment that people can shrug off after a couple of years.

I would rather see those to ladies married to men but I am not in a position to make decisions that affect the nation so . . .

Your going really hate me when I marry a girl this summer just two save $25 dollars on my annual gym membership.

Also marriage is just a loophole for all the churchy people that practice abstenance. They get married to someone, have sex with them for a short period of time, then divorce and start all over. And God cant do any thing to close that loop hole.

You're wrong hades, those are the kind of people that piss me off. They enter what is supposed to be a sacred bond but they twist it to their own advantage. Its not a loophole, divorce, in my opinion, isn't christian at all.

I dont have the facts, but Id guess that most people that get divorced arent christian, and will get divorced more than once, tipping the marriage percentage scales.

While people with multiple divorces obviously skew the results, most of the states with the highest divorce rates are in the South, where there are more religious people.  So I suspect that most people getting divorced are actually religious.

Which would make sense, since Christian folk are more likely to get married young, and more likely not to live together before getting married, both of which tend to lead to divorce.

You actually made the statement that you'd "guess most people getting divorced aren't christian," think again man. In a country that is predominantly christian, and the marriage rates are held by a majority of white citizens, the liklihood of divorce rates being most from christian families is good.

You're not christian because you live in the south go to church on sundays and sing hymns.

Christianity isn't about taking your walk in life only on sundays, its about living your life with a intimate relationship with God. If you have that relationship you aren't going to sacrafice other Christian values.

People who are "Christian" get divorces don't follow the morals they are supposedly living their lives by.

On the subject of fairy tale love . . . no one is perfect and no relationship is going to be perfect but you don't have to live with a person to know them, or know how your life with them would filter out.

So, by your argument, if you get a divorce you aren't really Christian? That's circular reasoning if there ever was.

I'm sure plenty of devoted religious people who are divorced would love to argue this one. I can name a few in my family. Seeing as how I highly doubt he's married much less been a relationship that borders a marriage.

So clark are you saying divorce is a christian moral?

"Till DEATH do you part" not until your car payments are overwhelming and the pool boy/girl looks good

Marraige is a bond until death, you are freed from that bond when your spouse dies.

Posted By: Clark Kent

No, I'm not saying that divorce is a "christian moral".  I am saying that christians get divorced, and you don't get to declare that a false statement by defining anybody who gets a divorce as not christian.

I am saying that while divorce may be counter to christian morals, getting a divorce doesn't make you not a christian, any more than lying (also counter to chrisitan morals) makes you not a christian.

By your definition, nobody is a christian.  Nobody.

Nobody is right. Though sinning intentionally in such a outward way as getting a divorce is just wrong. Why do you think the catholic church has such rigorous separation rules? There have to be extreme circumstances for them to even consider divorce.

Nobody is perfect but you can prevent getting a divorce by entering into a marraige knowing the person you are getting marriedand actually being in love with them.

Sin happens, everyone sins, it is just a fact of life. Though when you sin knowng that what you are doing is a sin, then you are just making an ass of yourself in front of God and giving into temtation.

So what I am saying is you can sin without thinking something through, like letting your tongue slip away from you, or treating someone poorly. Though you think through a divroce, and you decide that the sanctity of marraige is less than your own personal agenda.

Well, I appreciate your honesty if nothing else.

First off, homosexuals aren't "taking over".  That's just ridiculous.

Second, homosexuals have children all the time.

Third, two men in love is not one of the scariest things out there - but minds as closed as your are.

It's one thing to have a rational view and opinion about something - it is something else entirely to just be spouting off rhetoric you have heard from your parents and/or pastor, without thinking enough to form your own opinion.

If you want to have a discussion, I would be happy to do so - but it is hard to negotiate with slogans, so I try not to waste my time with that.

I don't think any homosexual has ever declared that homosexuality is the "only" way (well, I'm sure some loonies have, but they are definitely a tiny monirity of fringe lunatics).

Large groups of heterosexuals, on the other hand, go out of their way to publicly state that hetero is the only way.

I agree with your statement 100%.

No, the scariest thing in the world are people who think that they're right because they have a direct line to God and he's telling them what to do.  It doesn't matter if they're the Christian far right, Branch Davidians, or Islamic extremists; the level of moral certitude which breeds a belief that any excess or outrage in support of the "cause" is not only acceptable, but will be rewarded in the afterlife is the most terrifying thing I can think of.  Such extremist religious beliefs have given the world some of our darkest moments in history:  The Crusades, the Inquisition, witch burnings, Klan lynchings, and 9/11.
