The screw that goe sinto my forgrip has become stripped. No size allen wrench (or anything for that matter) has been able to turn it at all. I doubt I'm the 1st person that has had this happen, so I was wondering what would be the best thing to do. Stainless is a good choice simply because it eliminates the rust problem, but be aware that stainless is actually softer than the steel used in the original black screws. Be sure to use Allen wrenches that fit well and DO NOT over tighten...use a little lithium grease on the section of the screw that engages the nut to prevent galling. And...removing the screw with the stripped head: If you have a reversible drill go to a hardware store and ask for a 3/16", or slightly larger, left hand drill bit. Chuck that in the drill and with it set to turn counter-clockwise drill out the stripped screw. The bite of the bit may grab the screw and back it out of the nut eliminating the need to drill it completely out. If you don't have access to either the reversible drill motor or left handed bit then select a bit that is just slightly larger than the hole through which the shank of the screw fits. When you start to drill the head, go slowly with enough pressure that the bit cuts a curl of metal. As soon as the bit reaches the bottom of the screw head it will pop off doing little to no damage to the hole. You should have to drill no deeper than the counter bore in which the head of the screw sits. You can use a larger bit up to the diameter of the counter bore (counter bore is the recess hole that allows the head of the screw to sit below the surface of the receiver) |

That means you learned the importance of using a proper sized allen wrench. Not metric, not "close enough".

You could do the drill
bit thing, or use a screwdriver, so you can have something to pull on
when you put a pair of vice grips the screw, and pull.... then boil a
pot of water in a old not-so-much used pot, then dip the tip of the
screwdriver in it, then scrape off carefully, if you want the
screwdriver, if not then don't bother... I hate wasting tools...
