Not necessarily, are you on a 5-point or a 4-point grading scale on a 5, it's like C's I think, on a 4, it's mostly B's with the occasional A, or mostly A's with B's and the occasional C.

if you don't know what a GPA is you don't have a 3.5 bro.

Posted By: mbro
Date Posted: 28 December 2005 at 3:28am
haha, good point koolit. 3.5 is a high B A average. B = 3, A = 4 unless of course you're on an honors six point scale then you're retarded.

Ok.

AP Classes = 5.0

A = 4.0

B = 3.0

C = 2.0

D = 1.0

F = 0

Take the gades from each your classes, convert to ^that^ scale, and add them together. Devide by number of grades. Any honors classes, add on .05 for each.

That should be your GPA.

Not for us

Honors classes +1.0

AP classes +2.0

A= 4.0

B=3.0

C=2.0

D=1.0

F=0

so if I got an F in an AP class, i'd still have a 2.0 GPA

I had a 2.88, but scored really high on the ASVAB.

Schoolwork sucks, so I didn't do much of it.

At our school it is 1.125 weight for honours, and 1.5 for AP.

USAF, Sammy,

You guys must have low scoring schools for them to add that much weight, thats not normal.

I find that hard to beleive.

WHALE: Its the same for my school, but it is an incredibly stupid school. If you get straight 70s across your report Card, you are still ranked higher than 50% of the class it seems like.

Yeah, you usually see the schools that give out insane amounts of weight, like anything more than 1.0 for AP classes, are the schools that are dumb. They need to add that much weight so the school-average GPA wont drop so low.

You don't get free honors points in my school or free AP points. If you get a F, you still get points for it. If we get an F in an AP class, that's 0 X 1.5, it still equals zero.

This school was given a grade of "A" by the Florida Department of Education in 2004-2005.

My school's FCAT scores.

Thats all well and good, but the FCAT is a joke. We as Floridians can agree on that, no? Its not a good way to judge a school at all, and I would pretty much say it is the reason we are constantly 48th-46th in the nation when it comes to Public Schooling Systems

You guys still get a whole heck of alot of weight, your system is alot softer than ours.

Maybe I dont understand your system, you mean you get a whole 1.5 added on to your GPA for every AP class?

-------------

Posted By: Sammy
Date Posted: 28 December 2005 at 12:24pm

We don't get 1.5 added. Let's say I got an A in an AP class. An A is 4 points, and it is weighted 1.5, so you multiply 4 X 1.5. Honours is the same, 4 X 1.125.

If you have a B in an AP class, it is 3 X 1.5.

I have a 3.9 too.

Well on your system I have a 3.92

I get awesome grades in school, always have and never need to study for normal tests and quizes, and if I do its only for 30 min max.  And our GPAs are weighted and I'm taking all honors classes.

That's because, dare I say, high school is not exactly challenging.

QFT

Anything I can get by by not doing homework or studying isnt exactly "hard"

Calculus is an exception.

My grades are hurting because I can't do Honours math. I also shouldn't have taken physics. Next semester will see great improvment.

Hey!

My High School GPA was like a 3.25 or something. Not too good. That's weighted by the way. Unweight, like 2.7 or something like that.

Good luck!

Well there is nothing wrong with it. Take all the extra weight you can.

Just be warned that when you apply to college [if you do], MOST colleges will take all the grades from your core classes [math, english, science, social] and make their own GPA out of that. No electives, no PE, no arts.

For some that helps, for some it hurts.

A-4
B-3
C-2
D-1
F-0

Unless it was an advanced class, then it was 5 for A, 4 for B, and so on.

Ive got like a 4.6.

High School GPA's dont mean a thing in college if your first semester year you drop out of college because you developed no social skills during high school because all you did was study to make straight As.
