QFT if people want to be so "anti-government" then take your crappy music and leave. it would make a lot of people happy. the new green day album had the same effect all of soad's stuff has. it's ok for the first week or so that it's out. then it automatically sounds like crap and annoys the hell out of people. some bands should just stop. and i think green day has finally reached that point. -------------

I like Green Day. There cool in all. I like there old stuff( dookie, warning and others), and new. I think this should be this last album. They are married and have kids. Let a new band rise to take there spot. Who ever likes System Of a Down needs to get a life. They suck. If they hate America so much then they can move to Mexico or something. They only have this Anti- America songs out to get the consumers money, why?? Because thats what was "in". They saw Green Day and others make a succes at Anti -Goverment songs so thought it would be good idea. Its all about the money folks..all about the money. If you bought there CD then your supporting there payments of there cars,houses all here in America. Wow they sure hate the government allright, driving there Hummers on government maintained highways in all. Wow you bought the ticket to go see them.(here in America). They sure feel at home even they think you are being "hypnotized" by the government. You guys are being fooled by a fool. the end------------- Only Hugh can prevent florist friars. |

Green day was awesome and still good. Their new stuff mostly sucks, but I like all of their old stuff. Just because a band screwed up and made a bad album makes them suck? why? I remember Kiss releasing a below par album and people still like them. Metalica released a Black Album whitch featured an Orchistra in some songs....are they sellouts? no. everyone can't get enough of Mettalica. So why should we dis on Green Day? Because of their new-found fanbase? Because they slightly changed their image? Because of the slower music? If you have ever been to a live concert with them, they play about 50-50 old and new. I remember them playin songs such as: Baskettcase, Minority, Geek Stink Breath, Brain Stew, Knowlege, Welcome to Paradise, Longview, Time of your life, King for a Day, and Jaded. All those are Pre-Idiot. Now for post idiot: Am. Idiot, Boulevard, Holiday, St. Jimmy, Jesus of Suburbia, and We are the waiting. that's only 6 i can think of. Green Day didn't sell-out, they're just making money. THey already have the punk crowd, why not go ahead and get some emo, preppies, and some in-betweens too? They stereotypicly have more money than the punk crowd and they'll buy more stuff, right? Well, it backfired on them. THey're losing the punk base where they originated from. I doubt that was what they where trying to do. If it was, then I guess i'm missing the point of punk rock. Well, that was a very long post and i'm sure most the people are thinking "i'm not gonna read that long post" and they scroll over it. Frankly, I couldn't care less about how punk a band is or is not. Green
Day doesn't make very good music. They didn't even on their older
albums. The songs are bland and unoriginal, and they honestly have
nothing to merit all their success. Anyone can play the basic chords on
a guitar with a drumbeat in basic pop song structure and whine over
it. The lyrics aren't particularly good either. Face it: Green
Day just happened to get lucky, and that's why we know their name at
all. If you know anything about punk, then you should already realize there are so many more interesting alternatives to spend your listening time on. Stop worrying about the punk facade and do it. ------------- __________________ __________________ |

I've observed that many puke rock listeners listen to that genre of music becuase thats what all the cool emos do, and they want to be cool emos, but they dont realize that emos arent cool, any of them. Ok, I said im not a huge punk fan. But I agree that Green Day has gone down hill, their old stuff was pretty good, but I do listen to alot of rock such as System of a Down, and Old school Green Day, Pearl Jam. But if you like a certian area of music, listen to it, nobody is stopping you and who cares what you listen to. For the Record, Jesus of Suburbia is a good song. They changed their music...cry. Any band will do it if it is going to make them money.
Take my favorite band for another example: Dropkick Murphy's. Go listen to Do or Die, Gang's All Here, or even Sing Loud, Sing Proud and then listen to Warriors code. It is so incredibly different. Bands follow the money and you can't blame them. I don't even think Green Day changed all that much other than singing about political nonsense.

The Dropkick Murphys started without any of their Celtic stuff. Listen to the first EPs like Tatoos and Scally Caps and Boys on the Docks. They were a skinhead Oi! band. I wouldnt say they followed the money, they just matured. -------------
