This is my A-5 with a bunch of mods I added.  I still haven't fired it yet... going this week though.  Let me know what you all think.  PS I'm looking for a really short barrel thats more accurate than the stock.  I want to figure out a setup for the gun without buying a dropforward and unnecissary stuff, so basically i have the stock barrel with the vertical adapter as no now.... Give me some tips to make it a successful close-range marker.  I think i got the long range figured out :p (And no, i'm not buying HPA)

I play woodsball or scenario.

My A-5 with my short-range setup (as of now)

My A-5 with long-range setup (pretty much permanent)

My Custom Hopper I made one boring afternoon (ask me if you want to know how I did this, I could make a tutorial)

Inside the hopper

The guns stats are in my sig.  Give me questions and comments!

Simple. And is that Plexi glass in the hopper? I would go with a ten inch lapco barrel for accurate and short. I agree to keep the tank on the bottomline b/c of velocity issues or reverse the ASA to pput the tank underneath the gun(adapter needed for this) to make it extra compact w.out extra height.

if your gonna have your tank like that, get a 3.5 ouncer.  if your gonna be really close, just hack the regular barrel down.  I really don't understand why someone would need a long range and a short range marker tho. i mean, they both have r/t...  ahwell, whatever tickles your pickle

The stuff inside the hopper is to keep the paint from making too much noise as hes runnin around.

Actually, i used the plastic from a used game dvd case that happened to be clear.  Basically, i hacked a hole in my hopper and then went to find anything that was clear, and that happenedt o be in my closet :D

Also, for velocity, why is does it cause issues when it's just as good as having an anti-siphon... Someone tell me if i'm wrong, but doesnt the liquid sink to the bottom and the gas to the top, making it more effecient?  Also, i don't want to invest in another tank, i was going to buy a 10 ounce, but i decided it wouldn't matter too much.  How about i ask the person who fills the tank to only fill it 16 oz or so when i set it up vertical?  that would probably help quite a bit.

About the hopper, it doesnt bother me that its a "sloppy" job, it looks much better in person (when there isn't a camera flash:P) and from anything over a metre away it actually makes the gun look better in my opinion.

Any suggestions on what to use to cut the barrel without making a mess out of it?

It's not so he can put a scope on and see through the hopper, it's so he can tell how much ammo he has left.

I humbly offer the following suggestions for the short range version:
  • Check out the R5 sniper hopper by Ricochet, it only hold approximately 170 paintballs, but comes with a rubber lining and the shape is more conducive to the mounting of sights.
  • I have an 8 inch Lapco Bigshot and it is an amazing barrel.  My personal opinion is that it is the best barrel made for A5s.  (I've tried a J&J, which is my favorite 98 barrel, an Armson Stealth, and a Flatline and the Lapco beat them all for A5 use.)
    • Or you could check out this http://www.endgameinc.com/Paintball-Products/Stub-Nose-Barrels.asp - barrel by End Game.
  • To further reduce the marker profile, you could try reverse mounting the tank.
    • Lapco makes an ASA adapter for the A5 which replaces the stock ASA and allows the use of aftermarket ones.
    • You could also consider getting two smaller tanks and carrying one as a spare in your pod packs.  (I have a 98 that I set up to use a reversed 9 oz and I carry a spare 9 oz and 165 round tube of paint. I only use this setup when I feel like traveling light.)

I like the idea of a modular A5.  I had actually been playing with this idea myself, but you are much farther along than I am.  Good job.

because... they'll just never understand.

Yeah, u can get a "smoke" coloured one, that would work.  If you want to do this with your hopper pm me and I can give you details.  If you don't have sights it would be MUCH easier because you wouldnt have to indent it like I did, and you could make a much neater job of it :)

Problem solved, i'm getting a tac-cap, and also a 100 round tube to pocket.  I RARELY even use more than 50 balls per game (a game lasting something like 10 - 15 minutes) but I figured the pod would bring me to about hopper capacity, just incase.

also, I would reverse mount the tank, only I've spent tonnes of money on this thing and would like to find some free solutions :p
If it comes down to it, thats what i'll end up doing though.

As for the barrel, thanks for finding me a an actual affordable short barrel :P  people and their crazy $60 barrels   i mean, i already payed for an apex.... i'm simply broke :p
