I might try some kind of weighted hook before I went for a swim in January. The water is obviously fairly clear if you know where to find the bike, and if you had a boat it'd be even easier.

p.s. that message where i said it was matt and cody, ya that was to styro, he does know who they are

my advice so your friends don't die... tie a caribeener to the end of
the rope so all you have to do is loop it around and clip it to the
rope. and make sure you have dry clothes for them and a warm
house to go to afterwards...

You know why his girlfriend 'spotted it'? Because she threw it down
there..... I bet he was spending to much time with his bike and not
with her, and then she felt bad, so she led him over there and
'confessed'.

How did she spot said bike? Was the water clear, or did she have some
sort of xray vision? I think you should probably call MacGuyver. I bet
he'd have a plan to get that bike out.

Well I have 3, why wouldn't anybody else have one?
But seriously, go to the local dive shop and they will probably let you
rent one. (You most likely will not be required to be a certified
diver to rent one, because its really not something you could hurt
yourself with)

edit- Another question arises: How long has said bike been under water? It might not be in very good shape..

Seriously, be careful, hypothermia can occur REALLY fast. And you dont want anyone to die fetching a bike.

just go to an automotive, metalworking, or fishing store and ask if they have a big magnet that you can tie to a rope. all 3 should have one.

it's not the bike......it's the principle. even if it ruins the bike it will still have parts from it whitch he'll prolly use later for a carapult or something. He'll at least salvage the intertube and/or tire. You can really never have too many whenever you don't have a liscense to drive a car.

a bike won't rust if it hasn't had contact with air. i don't know if you take chemestry or nething, but if he gets it all dry it shouldn't rust, it still might, but if he truly dry's it good it won't.
