ya know i really dig the whole "paintball gun replica deal" so i was thinking that it would be awesome to basically take my 98c and stuff and just make a good ram shaft and trigger assembly of some kind and cut out a stock and just put it all together to make a russian mosin nagant rifle, if you got any ideas to make it look kewl or to make it work go ahead and post it

Why one of those things? Why not replicate a more well known or "cool" gun if you're going to the trouble?

^Yeah. Do an M1 Garand. Think of how cool an M1 would look with a cyclone hopper on the side.

If you want to make a good Mosin Nagant replica, I'd say start with a pro-carbine. It has a cylindrical receiver and you could probably easily rig up a trigger system for it. Make a replica of an M-38 carbine. A full sized MN would be retarded.

M4s are overdone unless they're EXTREMELY well done- I've seen a few beautiful ones, but they're rare.

Wooden stock markers are sweet. http://www.milsimog.com has a few guys working on similar projects- if you sign up and hit the MilSim modifications section I'm sure they'd be happy to help you out.

I've seen paintball M1 Carbines, M14s,Thompsons,Springfield 1903s, Mauser 98s, BARs, and even a Browning .50 Cal on a huge mount. They sell them on some Milsim site, but i forgot the name. They all cost at least $900 and the Browning .50 Cal costs $3,500!

Mosin Nagants are pretty cheap right now, you can even go to fleet farm and get them for $100, so if you're feeling bored, and think you want to risk the money, just go to fleet farm, get one, take out all of the metal parts, and start hacking away.  The only problem I see with this is, you'd need a long barrel, and you'd need to super it, and work with the wood A LOT for it to work and look good at the same time, and then the bayonet wouldn't fit, which would make the gun not as cool.

No need to kill a real steel MN. I'm sure you can find the stocks online, and definatly the mag well/trigger gaurd. I'm sure Tenessee gun parts would have them. Try google. If you want really cool, try milling a pro-carb receiver to look like a hex receiver from an older MN. I'd suggest the M-38 model since it only had a barrel <20" and no bayo.

M4s do not have a 21" barrel. M16s have a 20" barrel. M4s have lengths between 16" and 8", and several increments in between, depending on the make of the upper receiver.

EATG was an aweosme flick though, so your post wasn't completely out to lunch.

I own and shoot a real 1944 Mosin Nagant.  A wonderful piece to shoot.  Did you ever give the conversion a try?  I was thinking on similar lines with a 2nd rifle.  seems to me you would want a base marker that had a rear cocking bolt (sorry tippmann) to get that general feel of a bolt action.

Someone mentioned buying just the wood stock.  My guess you would need a whole gun (still way under $200) to get enough of the metal pieces to make it look good.  I guess you would want to put a locking clip of some sort to hold the bayonet in the rear position to keep from freaking out field owners (still would look good on the gun).

You wouldn't need any of the metal pieces to get it to look good. And if you're M44 isn't **edited**ed up, the bayonette should be locked in place when in the rear position. My M44's bayo locks.

use a pump gun and replacew the pump with a bolt it would take some moddification, but would be really easy getting it to look like a rifle would be the hard part.

My roommate actually bought spare SKS wood stock and was trying to machine it to put a Phantom pump gun inside of it. Problem was it just didnt fit in practice as well as he'd originally envisioned it and he abandoned the project.

We were actually thinking the other day though that the idea would work really good with an AutoMag since they are so compact and slim.

LOL and speaking of Mosin-Nagants the gun store here in town has em on sale, two for $130. we're gonna get one each next paycheck. I wouldn't waste a nice Mosin-Nagant stock on a paintball gun though when there are so many SKS stocks lying around cheap.
