I figure, he has around 300 neg feedbacks in the month of december...

Each with around 300$ orders, My estimation is he pulled down around 90,000$ in under a month. Not bad at all.

I figure it this way, He got paid around the same week by every one, He cancelled his account, killed all his email accounts, Probly had the cash directed to false accounts and such.

I imagine he'll get away clean.

Genious.

Cept' for the fact, I bet he gets greedy, tries the scam again, and gets nailed.

I read them. I don't use Ebay, I just thought Paypal was a middle man and when they got the money and item, both were sent. Maybe it wasn't used.

as one of the people who left feedback wrote "WOULDN'T STOP EMAILING ME TO LEAVE FEEDBACK.. CHRIST LEAVE ME ALONE" they left positive feedback. kinda fun to see how it was all organized.

maybe that's not his current residence, but at the very least they are outting his face and name out there to a bunch of people around the country/world who will not be very happy if they do happen to meet up with him/her face-to-face.

If he was really smart, he would have left the country by now or put the money away in a nice hidden bank account where it can't be touched.

Not just a $50k truck, but a rather rare one. Why would Dodge build a very impractical, expensive truck in mass numbers?

I think a teacher at my school got taken by that eBayer too. The auction was for a digital camera. That's why some people just refuse to use eBay, there is always a risk involved.

They were fine up until Xmas time. If you use eBay then you'd understand that normal turnaround is about 2 weeks. This seller probably had already received payments when buyers started thinking something was up.

The problem is that these idiots (the buyers) paid in personal check, or worse yet cashier's check.

NEVER EVER buy anything on Ebay of any real value unless you can pay with a credit card.  Not even PayPal from your bank account is that safe (PayPal usually limits fraud recovery to $200).

I have been ripped off a couple of times now, and it hasn't cost a dime.  Some aggravation, but a call to my credit card company gets me my money back.

Any seller that is asking for cashier's checks for expensive items might as well stick a giant "eye r a cruk" sign up.

While this is obviously illegal and the idiot will get caught, my sympathy with the buyers is limited.

(BTW, auto theft is generally not a federal crime, so the FBI wouldn't care)

First off, I'm pretty sure it's spelled "genius", could be wrong though.

But seriously, did you see the webpage where it shows this guy's face, name, and address?

I personally have trouble calling the guy a genius after seeing that.

I'm assuming he sold a LOT of stuff right before Christmas, so he didn't have any negative feedback yet.

^Exactly.....the people who were being ripped off were still waiting for their stuff, so they hadn't left the negative feedback yet, hoping they would still receive the products.

The thing I tripped out on is the dude's feedback was still like more than 80% positive......I think the math is messed up on E-Bay, because it didn't seem to add up....like his rating should have been much lower positives.

Actually he has only recieved 105 feedback in the past month.  At an average of $400 an item (I'm being very generous here) he only got $42,000.  Unless I'm missing something.

Anarchyguy - I know some people have already said it is not a federal matter, but think of it this way:  There are very many cars stolen every single day.  Do you realize how much resources it would take for the FBI to try and solve every one of those crimes.  It is just unrealistic.

Edit to add**

There are a quite a few people who left their phone numbers on there.  That would be awesome to prank call some of them with regards to this.

highly doubt it, they dont even look into the missing items from the robberies cuz the chances are so small of finding the stuff
