Because if there was an all white school, especially one with public funding, it would be the most evil thing on the planet. Especially if it was named like....White Pride High or something....I hate racism, no matter what the color of the racist is....

im pretty sure its in colombus.... i live about 20 minutes away from there.... i think they won like the basketball championship for there district but they got it revoked because one of the players was ineligable or something

I just don't understand how a school that caters to blacks or **edited**s should be anymore acceptable than a school that caters to whites....Especially in the public system....These people say that racism is bad and that no one should be discriminated against because of the color of their skin or thier ethnic backgroud, that race shouldn't matter, and then demand special privilages based on those exact things. It just doesn't work both ways to me. I think that we should all actually be "color blind", no matter what color we are. Racism is racism.

Hmmmm I got guested last time for something like this but here it goes, all I'm gonna say is its entirely wrong to get scholarships for your skin color, or a better chance of getting into a school. I think the race box on tests and whatnot should be gone, period.

It does appear a bit obnoxious. I have no problem with the name per se, given that it uses a particular teaching methodology apparently of African origin. I am more bothered by the "Nubian Wildcats" mascot - envisioning the "Germantown Fightin' Aryans". Granted we do have the "Fighting Irish", but ND is a private school - Africentric is public.

This school was not exclusively for homosexuals - it was simply an elective school that promised a safe and accepting environment for homosexuals. Plenty of straights attended. This school was started after a rash of homo-beatings.

Before I get into this discussion further, let me state that I consider myself a Christian and slightly homophobic.

However, neither of these traits gives me the right or authority to plan, enact, or call for the destruction of any group based on their beliefs/views.

For those who believe that God hates non-straight people:

I doubt that he's talked to you personally.
Killing is a sin-the commandment doesn't say "Thou shalt not kill unless it is (insert stereotyped group here) then it's okay".
The bible does mention several times leaving the business of judging people to the Big Guy Upstairs.

If he thinks certain actions are wrong, I'm sure he'll administer appropriate punishment down the road.

Anyone who uses their religion as an excuse for violent action against those who are different (religion, sexual orientation, race, whatever) are no better than the murderers who perpetuated the twin towers attack.

For those who feels action needs to be taken because it is "just wrong":

If someone from a certain group did something to you once, that was an individual, not the entire group. You shouldn't stereotype the entire group by the actions of a few.

The fact that I'm German, Irish, and Scottish, doesn't make me an ill-tempered, kilt-wearing, haggis-eating, drunkard with delusions of world domination.

If you're afraid they'll entice and recruit your children, then you must be realizing that you didn't do a very good job of raising those children.

We live in a free country, and some people need to realize that the best way to lose those freedoms is to let them be taken from certain "different" groups one little piece at a time.

I go to highschool in Columbus Public schools(the same district that is home to Afrocentric) The school district is comprised of 14 high schools(bigges pub school district in the state of Ohio). And 75% of students in the district are black. they did this because there has always been tension between the district and the black community in Columbus. Almost all of the schools are all black anyways!!!! O well still. THE FEW THE PROUD THE WHITE STUDENTS OF CPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
