my friend recently purchased a used 98c from a friend and was interested in buying one of my aftermarket barrels & when i let him try it out it wouldn't thread all the way. my barrel fits fine in my 98c & my other friends 98c, but not in his. any suggestions on to why this is or what he could do? thanks.

Does your friend have a 98 custom or model 98 because some barrels will only work with the newer 98 custom instead of the old m98

Did you loosen the sight and front grip screws?

98 Customs made since around 2004 or 2005 have different threading. If I remember rightly, the new barrels will thread into an old reciever, but not vice-versa.
