Definatly JohnnyHopper, however, a lot of are citing things that are definatly post-old blue. I just lurked back then, but a good amount of this stuff was the first year or so of the new format(counting various updates to the current format)and some, like FAB is much more recent.

I also remember as soon as we switched from old blue to the first red forum, how we first needed the gold star to enter the reg's forum. It was a heck of a time for the mods to get the gold stars handed out, and Stevarooni started the post "The Land of Misfit Toys" for those without their gold star at the beginning.

You guys are opening a real can of worms here. Its a little known fact
that I keep incredibly old backups, so heres some old OLD images from
the forum.

The infamous CLAW spokescat

Vote for us!

The infamous Hway Fluffy Bunny Gate picture. I swear we had no idea!

Pat for Plat! Hooray!

My second shot to be fired in the legendary Hway vs Enos photoshop tennis match

It speaks for itself

My "Uber A5" picture that launched a legendary argument on the A5
Owners Group forum when someone thought it was a serious pic and flamed
me for being a newb.

Oh, man, the memories of days gone by.
I actually have the Deathsnakehiss cardboard mask!
It was presented to me at TWC IV.
So many people that are gone, like FA Jedi, Joe Snuffy ...
"Mem'ries,
Like the corners of my mind
Misty water-colored memories
Of the way we were
Scattered pictures,
Of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another
For the way we were
Can it be that it was all so simple then?
Or has time re-written every line?
If we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me, would we? could we?
Mem'ries, may be beautiful and yet
What's too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget
So it's the laughter
We will remember
Whenever we remember...
The way we were... "

Definitely agree with the lack of true-blue memories. While all the presented picture-histories are GREAT to look at once more (the Hway BunnyGate pic always gets a laugh)... none of them really come out at me as from "Old Blue". Mainly because "Old Blue" didn't allow for picture signatures (or ANY signatures, really - at least not that I recall). Ranking didn't exist.
And that was all Pre-Y2K. By the end of Y2K we had moved to "Old Red". I remember when Pepprdog asked me to be a Mod. Just the two of us with the occaissional help from Nobody (yes, him). To "guest" someone we had to manually scroll thru several hundred pages of random-order usernames in order to change someone's password (in my case to: ShortyWuzHere). Man, that sucked.
Old Blue was back in the days of 00Turok... Nebelmann's Man of Fog [fiction] stories... and true-life stories of smoke-grenades going off in pickup truck beds at fast-food drive-thru window. And I came on-board late... a year or two before the first guys. And even after I registered, my post count was up to 10 after a year and half. Spent all my time lurking.
I remember the excitement preceding the FIRST Tippmann World Challenge... and how everyone was eager to meet one another. And how bummed I was that I wasn't able to attend it, and then was not able to attend the second one... because of college & lack of funds.
I remember voting on the Tippmann Forum patch design. The design I voted for, which included two crossed 68Carbines, didn't win.
Still have the lyrics to "American Carbine" on a file somewhere.
Man... we're up to TWC VIII already? Eight years. It's been what? Five? Six years since Old Blue disappeared?
Back in the day... I remember when the forum only had a couple hundred registered user names. It has over 33,000 today. Absolutely incredible.
Definitely NOT the same place it once was. I'd be a liar if I said I preferred it now, compared to what it used to be. Everything has changed... the forum has changed, the people have changed, the SPORT has changed. Some good, some bad. But overall, I like to think that this forum has remained successful. Not conducive to the original crowd anymore... but if it had remained that way, it probably would have faded out. Needed change to keep up with the changes all around.
Good times.
Ever changing and expanding, while it may not be "ideal" for everyone (too strict for some, too lenient for others), it remains a successful forum. Much thanks to the current Mods for keeping it running, and to Tippmann for keeping it up. And also to all you regular joes out there, minus some folks of course.
