airsoft is more "realistic" in the way bb's move etc. but less realistic in the way that you can have a clip with 700 rounds. I prefer paintball because i can play woodsball nicely. Airsoft (unless you buy REALLY cheap guns) is the exact same as speedball... just strings of bb's instead of strings of paint. Actually in REAL Airsoft, like they play in orginizations you are limited to tha amount of ammo the weapon your Airsoft Gun is modeled after can carry. IE: A M-16A2 can only be equipped with 30rd Magizines. -------------

Airsoft guns are "cool" and everything. Except you can only shoot about 15-20 feet. If that. Its not even really accurate.(even with hopup) ------------- Only Hugh can prevent florist friars. |

My gas pistol is probably more accurate than my 98c with a Lapco bigshot and good paint. Airsoft is cheaper to shoot and has a much more realistic feel as far as the way the weapons handle and realoding goes. I like that a lot. A good airsoft gun is also usually pretty accurate, meaning you use less ammo. However, it's harder to find people who play airsoft(and the D&D crowd who is in love with all things Asian gets on my nerves quickly)and hitting somebody with an airsoft gun just doesn't give me the same kind of satisfaction. I think it's great for just messing around with friends and low cost plinking. Also, if you own a handgun for defensive purposes, it's a good trainidg aid if you get one that mimicis the real steel in size, weight, and function. |

Most people I know who play airsoft say that it's nowhere near as fun as paintball, but it's way cheaper.

I have left paintball for airsoft. My G+G M14 shoots at 380fps and I can hit at double the range of a paintball. There are many organized airsoft groups and events where low-cap realilistic magazines are required, my mags hold 20 per, just like the real thing.
I also have a M16A1 Vietnam model at 400fps with 20 round mags, and a M-60 machinegun at 350fps loaded with 100rd "pillbottles" like the real 100rd belts. The sport is what you make of it, yes airsoft is way less expensive $11.00 for 3000 .25BB's and a 4 hour recharge on your battery for a whole day of play. You go to wallyworld and buy a $35.00 airsoft gun and you get what you pay for, a $455 M14 stock out of the box will hit what you aim at at ranges way exceding paintballs. I find a more mature and unfortuanately for paintball HONEST crowd in airsoft, one of the primary reasons I left paintball was the wipe fests and attitudes, and the standard price gouging field owners and suppliers. -------------

yea i hate those jerks and prices 2 but luv paintball way too much to give it up even when im down on $$...yet still im wodering...if ur hitting targets so far away how do u no where ur hitting...u cant see dive or misses unless u have really good eyes... -------------

| If you got a gas gun as mentioned before, you have a pretty good advantage. Airsoft is more for the milsims at heart than paintball. But just spend the right amount of money on a good gas rifle/pistol and you will be satisfied. I personnaly own a vietnam era M16A1 gas rifle, works like a charm and shot 350-400 fps depending on the pressure I ran it at. I used compressed air to run it, from a compressor or bike pump. So that was cheap to use. |
