No you won't be choppin 'balls.  The egrip is capped at 15  semi, and the cyclone is capped at 17 and with QEV at 22, which is debatable.  You'll be fine, and with a JCS, you'll be walking that dog in no time.

Umm, it doesn't  = chopped balls, it actually = two perfectly designed systems to work efficiently with each other.  Why do you think they sell egrips for A-5s?  Do you not think that they included all those modes just so people could make paint smoothies?  They're tested and proven to work fine together.

But the thing is they don't work perfectly together at all.

I have one I have seen it happen.

My buddy has been shooting his E-5 on full auto for three years, and only chops when the paint is bad.  Otherwise, zero chops at 15 bps.

If you ensist that they chop balls, explain to me why. Variables aside (such as bad paint, unproper setup, etc.).

Every time i try and shoot my a5 on full auto it burst abou 50% of the balls. And its not the paint or the barrel. Ah well.

Do you have both Cyclone fixes, and a fresh ratchet?

I never chopped a single ball with my E-Grip..

Another thing, the cyclone feeder is there to keep up with the speed.

That's wierd.  I got a brand spankin new A-5 for Christmas.  Then I went nuts (wife would say "stupid"), and added an E-Grip, WAS board, QEV, and 14" GTA Werks barrel.

I then went out and got a 20oz CO2 tank (no anti-siphon), and later on added a male Palmer stab.

If I set the E-grip on auto, at anything above 10 bps RoF, I get balls blowing up and splattering the inside of the cyclone.  I think the 15-17bps setting should have been labeled "puree".  This is using RPS All-Star paint, which as far as I know, is considered pretty good.

Temps during testing were around 50 or so, and the palmer gauge read 625 PSI.

I have yet to be able to fire in full auto and not have the A-5 turn into a blender.  :(

From everything I've read up to this point, it seems that maybe HPA is the only way I can do this.  Are those that are saying it works using CO2?

The combination of the CO2 and the low temperature may have done you in.  Paint gets brittle in low temperature, and the Cyclone isn't gentle on the paint.  CO2 at high ROF spits liquid, and even the Stab can't stop it completely.  The cold aggravates this further.

I have seen plenty of A-5s (including mine) turn into blenders at those temperatures.  Try an indoor range if you can, or wait for the weather to change, or get Polar Ice.

The cyclone will EASILY be able to keep up with the E-Grip.  Unless of course you have the WAS board and crank up the max bps.

I believe that in all the years of shooting my A-5 with an RT and with an E-Grip, that I have never chopped a single paintball.  That's not to say I haven't had balls break in my barrel or in the cyclone, but that's a different thing entirely.

I play in canada and it is cold a lot of the times i play and i use co2 and hpa, My egrip works well with the a-5, unless it gets really cold then it is not chopping the balls are breaking in the barrel. my Egrip+a5= Bad news for foes

I just noticed that every thread that Monkey Dust posts in turns into a fight. Let me guess Monkey Dust, your kindergarden report card read "Doesnt play well with others", am i right?

I have only shot 6 cases through my a-5 but I have not chopped 1 ball.

I am thinking someone does not know the difference between chopped ball and barrel break or something. how are you going to chop a ball if the cyclone feed is working properly.  I think something is wrong with the feeder.

if you are breaking 50% of the balls at full auto without some kind of other mod something is wrong with the marker becasue if you read this thread you are the minority so to speek.

is the e-grip worth it?  I am not sure since you already have the response.  it does give you options that the RT does not have. semi, turbo, 3round, full auto.  you have a 9v battery though that could go dead on you so you always have to make sure you have a spare.  I ususally play in turbo as I don't like wasting paint.  I bought the gun off ebay with the egrip on it.  If I were buying I don't know which one I would go with.  there is something nice about have a fully mechnical marker but on the flip side the "sweet spot" is not as nice IMO as the selectability of the e-grip.
