Subject: A-5 and air questions

Hi im new to paintball and have just picked up a A-5 and have a few
questions about it. First off im using a remote to a xchamber to a vertical
adapter with co2(I went with co2 because I can get a 25lb tank for $12). I
also have a flatline barrel installed. I have the e-grip with the WAS board.
These are all new products.

1)I have never adjusted the fps on the gun and was wondering what the
factory fps is? My cousins Custom 98 stock shoots just as far as my
flatlline.

2)Do I have to turn it up since Im using a remote and xchamber? Does
that lower the fps?

3)Lastly I noticed that when I fire a little bit of air comes out of the area
that you turn up the fps, is that right or maybe because its all the way
down set by the factory?

4)What paintballs do you guys recommend with the flatline? Ive heard Evil
are good and I have shot 300 Big Balls with no problems other then it
curving at the end.

I would appreciate any help you guys can give me, thanks.

Welcome to the forum.

There is no "factory fps".  There are dozens of variables that affect velocity, so the only way to know what your velocity is to use a chronograph.  That is also the only way to play safely.

X-chambers, remotes, barrels, paint, tanks, weather, springs, leaks - these are all things that can affect your velocity.  Since many of them change from time to time, you have to chrono.

If your cousin is shooting as far as your Flatline, his velocity is almost certainly much higher than yours.

Big Balls will work with the Flatline, but they are medium quality at best, and you may experience some breaks as well as inferior accuracy.  The main thing with the Flatline is to not use old/brittle/crappy paint, and to avoid really big paint (most paint is not really big).

Good luck.

It sounds like you stated your FPS(velocity adjuster or VA) is all the way in. If this is true , this is probably why your cousins 98C is shooting as far as you. He would have to arch his shots to reach what your Flatline can reach under normal operating peramiters. But as Rambino stated above, a cronograph is needed to set your marker up correctly - velocity wise.

Too high a velocity can crack mask lenses GET IT CHECKED befgore you play

Flatline usually  about 280fps. Any gun SHOULD NOT be above 300fps.

Yup. Ram basicly covered it. So in a nutshell, the factory doesn't set it to a certain number, you have to do it yourself. And you should always check your velocity each time you play.

like they all said their is no set velocity the gun comes set at , i cant stress it enough get your gun chronoed before you play.  You dont want to hurt anyone.

sometimes the store you bought it from (if you went to a pro-shop) will set the velocity for you.

for example, someone i played with had there gun adjusted when they bought it.

a week later they took it to the field at it was still 250, on the dot (thats my fields limit).

Ok heres the thing I have just got a Crono, and it keeps reading around
160 ( my cousins is around 280), when I turn the fps screw the read out is
still around 160. I dont understand why, maybe the remote line and
xchamber together drop the presure?
