Q Loader is a beautiful piece of equipment and it is ideal for speedball. BUT, it takes a long time to reload each pod. Though there have been some changes to the the design to make fewer mistakes during reloading it remains slow to accomplish.

The Q Loader will feed at a higher rate than just about anything on the market, but it doesn't have the capacity to maintain that rate more than a few seconds. The pods are expensive and it would require many of them to play each game of speedball.

I have played against Q Loaders with my Halo B. The Halo provides superior fire power, which greatly offsets the fact that it sits high and gets hit on occasion. The Q certainly keeps the profile low. I live the idea but in practical use it needs more refinement before it plays well.

For the price of the Q and the necessary pods you will find the Halo B with the addition of the Cheetah board to provide virtually everything you want in a loader. (Forget about the V boards and such for the Halo, the Cheetah does the best job out there of clearing jams and maintaining ball feed)

I think that the Halo B is more practical. The great thing about the Q is the speed it offers, which in your average tourney you don't really need it, since most are capped. It also offers a smaller profile, but if you know how to shoot correctly, it's not that big of a deal.

The Q-loader is great, and yes it does take time to load them, but on the field, it takes two seconds to switch from an empty pod to a full pod.  But me playing woodsball, its perfect.  No hopper on top, enough speed, and definitely sweet.  Its very intimidating to other ppl, but most of them dont get the luxury of seeing me before they are walking to the elim-zone

P.S  The Q-loader is only $80 and it comes with 2 pods, and each one after that is $20, its about as much for the extra pods as a Halo w/ Cheetah board, so its just preference now.

Wrong wrong wrong. You can't just issue a blanket statement like that.

The Halo B is more practical for backplayers and the Qloader is more practical for frontmen. Sorry, but it isn't black and white like you all are saying.

A good frontman knows how to snapshoot well, and let's his backmen do the laining. He doesn't need high capacity. Even if he does, the Qloader reloads very fast. It's simply twist and click. No spills either. I hate spilling expensive tourny paint.

The Halo B is better for someone who needs to be laying down a sustained stream of paint. If you're posting/laining, you want the Halo. But for a frontman who's real close to the action, especially the guy crawling the snake, a Qloader is better. Trust me, I am that guy, the tape player who crawls the snake. I'll never go back to a conventional loader unless I move to playing back.

So neither you nor your friend is right. It all depends on what position you play.

The problem is is that the pods are expensive and you would need a lot of them.

No, I only have 3 pods and I use about two of them in an xball game. It was $100 for a 2 pod system and an extra pod.

On our speedball field each game runs about 6 to 8 minutes each, then we switch ends of the field and start again. There are a lot of games missed by Q Loader users having to return to staging to reload the pods.

As I have said, I love the technology of the Q, but I usually play back. Sometimes when we put together a pretty good pick up team...knocking the socks off our opponents. The forward guys have to leave the field after one or two games to refill Q pods. We lose them until the luck of the draw puts us all together again.

I wish the Q was more user friendly. Until it is, I am going to have to stick to the Halo B.

im gunna have to agree with Bruce. if you have a 6-8minute speedball game and you Qloader shoots up to 30bps and say you shot through two of your loader podsin one game, and you had three to begin with and you play 2 games back to back during the second game you probly would have to call yourself out, because you ran out of paint.

Back to back yes... I don't do that. In that case I'd snag an extra Qpod. So $125 instead. A Halo B w/ Rip and 4 pods is around $115. The extra $10 is worth it for a frontman IMO. Again, Bruce is a backplayer. If I were him I'd stay away from the Q also.

Oh, man, never call yourself out just because you run out of paint!!! I have seen too many games won by players with no paint or a non-functioning marker sneaking around surendering the opposition. They were fearless!

Warbeak is correct. As I said, I love the Q but it just doesn't fit my playing style.

BTW, has anyone ever heard of a bottom feeding 98C. I am gathering parts to build a 98C that will have a hopper mounted under the barrel, much like the Q Loader, which feeds paint up through the forward grip. Has it been done?

i've never hear or seen one. the problem im seeing is that the ball will come up then possably roll forward, another ball comes up now you got two balls that are going to be shot, so you'll need to fashion up some kind of ball detent.

Of course! Looks like I could fit the Tippmann style at the top. But, it would also be easy to fit one of the ball style detents like the type use on Angels and Spiders and similar markers.

The pic isn't up on his site, but you can email him with any questions you have. Gonna go with a warpfeed? That'll be sweet.
