Okay so I modifier an A-5 like this before, and since I got a new one after selling said old one, I've finally gotten off my butt and started putting it together since I started collecting pieces for it last year.

I took off the Flatline because I'm going to be using this at D-Day.  I still have to bore out the stock barrel so I can put Freak Inserts into it.  Other than that it is my CQB marker.

oklahoma d day, its like a d day reinactment(sp) as in WW2. theres like thousands of peope, sounds like a lot of fun, but wow, the flatline wouldve been good, other wise, like they said pretty stock looking, but inserting freak inserts is a cool idea, it probly wont doo much for it tho

Why not just get a freak barrel with a flashpoint 8" tip?

TEHGANGSTER: What do you mean it won't do much? Paint to bore match is the single most important factor in accuracy.

LOL ... Yeah it looks pretty stock but that's the attraction of it for me.  I decided to have it look as plan as possible until I get to rip with it.

1.)  I have a E-frame but I might take it off for D-Day.  I don't think I could fight the tempation of the dark side.

2.)  For all intents and purposes, and reading all of Glen Palmers research over the years, you can have a really accurate 8 inch barrel.  The first 4 to 5 inches are the most important while the remaining 4 to 3 inches are more of a guide.  I figure boreing out the stock barrel and putting in freak inserts would be a sneaky way of getting a tad more consistant shots in the long run.  Plus boring out the stock barrel instead of buying one helps cut down on the price.  I just needed to get the inserts off E-bay for cheap.

3.)  Why no Flatline???  I have one but I'm not going to use it.  I've spent the last several years playing in a pump league.  During big games I switch off with my A-5 and Phantom.  I've gotten to the point that I can hit anything with a normal barrel that I can hit with a Flatline.  And if I can't get the angle then I move so I can hit it.  Plus the Flatline is clearly heavier than the stock barrel.  Weight at this moment is important.  I can always switch during the game if I need to.

The main goal I had for this marker is to try to modify it as much as possible without changing the outward appearance.  I wanted to keep the marker as light as can be to so I have a faster response time.  Since I started playing with a Phantom I've noticed that I have a quicker response and snap shot that with the A-5.  Granted I've been playing Stock Class so there is no way in the world I'll be able to cut down the A-5's weight that much.

I'm going to be roaming in the extra 100 plus aches that were purchased since last years D-Day.  I'm mostly going to be doing recon work.  So having a lighter marker has its benifits, though I won't be able to switch hands with it due to the remote line.  I'm still trying to figure a way around that.

If anything I'll put a Lapco Off center site rail and throw a red-dot on it and maybe a actual scope on the side to try and see far away targets, but that starts to become a weight issue.

So to everyone that says it looks pretty stock .... THANKS!!!!  That means I'm doing something right!!!!

Yeah and I think the numbers for D-Day are somewhere around 3 to 4000 people.  Yeah I think I'm going e-frame .....  My trigger finger is going to be sore.

Then again I may say forget it and just use my Phantom again.

Oh yeah .... here's what's on it right now:
-Modified LPK
-Palmer Female Stab.
-Polished Internals
-E-Grip

Here are the parts that still need to happen:
-Lapco Site Rail
-Red Dot Sight
-Lapco Grip
-Bore out Stock Barrel to take Freak Inserts
-Thumb Screws for the front end of the gun.  Easier to switch to Flatline if need be.

Okay what would everyone suggest???

Keep in mind that keeping cost down and the need to keep it looking as cost to stock as possible is the goal here.

LOL ... yeah you got me there ...  But it doesn't hang down as far and you would think.  The front grip is right above my waist line.  I figured what the hell ... if it works who cares.  When the time comes and something comes around that I like I'll replace it.

The marker isn't that heavy and hasn't caused any issue's with running around.
