Your Ion should already have a reg and you don't really need to replace it. If you must, get a CP reg...

Like I said in your other thread, don't go upgrading the reg untill last. The stock Ion regs are decent enough.

it isnt totally necessary, but if you want to, of all of the complaints ive heard about ions, most of them are from shootdown from the weak stock reg, for a new one, id get an evil detonator or a CP

whats difference does it make if you get a new reg? does it improve consistency more?

The stock Ion reg has a not so good recharge rate. A better one would be a good idea. A CP Grip reg or Evil Detonator would be good lower cost regs.

Getting a new reg will help with consistency. But the stock reg is decent, I would just stick with it until it breaks. Then I would get a CP Shorty reg.
