Not shure what category this should be in, but oh well.
Anyways Where do you think paintball will be in ten years? Paintball originally was a few people(One of which is Charles Gaines if you know him) running around a field with cattle markers playing capture the flag. It then evolved into a Woodsball war with stock class markers, and eventually into a pump-only game and blah blah blah......
Anyways It eventually became the "War" Between Woodsball And Speedball with some of the old-schoolers using Stock class and or pump only games
Where do you think it will be in ten years? All woods? All speed? Or will paintball just completely split into two different games? OR It could Paintball be just as popular and accepted as Baseball? Who knows........

It will be a glorious sport played by comrades in socialist brotherhood. And the paint will always be red.

I'd like to see more pump play. It's the only kind of paintball I'm remotely interested in at the moment.

The elitist god-gun pigs shall be sent to work camps. Everyone shall play with the same markers and same amount of paint. The standard uniform shall be black pajamas with sandals. It will progress into a popular sport(speedball tournaments). There will always be scenario and woodsball fields. Amatures will always get together for private games. It will progress just like the BMX and skateboarding(X Games). Snowboarding is in the olympics. Poker is even on ESPN. The more popularity this sport gets. The more media coverage it will receive. Long live the revolution of paintball!

Major tournaments will be controlled by an entity other than the paintball industry. An investor, someone with REAL money, will step in, and the result will be technology caps. More equipment used for competition will be "spec": hoppers, circuit boards and programs, paint amounts. The days of unlimited technology will draw to a close on the tournament field, and things like ramping, full auto, and being able to walk into a game with a case of paint will become something only seen at scenario games and in outlaw ball. This will all be brought about by a death or crippling injury at a major tournament.
Paintball will finally make it onto TV, but only at strange hours of the night, and not on any major channels.
Pump play will continue to be the chosen method for players who really care for the game. Tippmann will be considering doing an SL-68III.
Paint will still be the weak link in our gear.
Goggles will all come with protection that covers the top and back of the head, as well as better ear coverage. Chin straps will come on all goggles. Again, these changes will come about due to an injury or death at a major tournament.

Some come with chin straps now... I'm thinking that's pre-emptive against the inevitible. Many do not have that feature. Even the ones that come with the straps see a lot of users cutting them off.
And the full-head protection is only available on one or two chassis right now. I foresee it being standard on new goggles at some point, and kits being made to add to existing goggles.

Its alaways been like that with...everything. Bikes-Some kid dies, Helmets until your 14. Skateboarding, Someone gets hurt and it turns into an almost-illegal hated thing. Hockey(Cut me some slack, Im a hockey fan), a player falls back and cracks his head, Helmets mandatory

I don't really see anything earth shattering happening.
What I predict, is that you will see a sharp decline in recreational play for a while.
Alot of the kids who have gotten into it now, will move on. And it'll take a while, but a new crew will come into it......it'll take a while though.Tournament play and such will continue to grow however, and you'll see a lot more on these types of games. I think you'll see more indoor fields to cater to winter play and such too.
Technology will continue to improve as will safety regulations.
Prices, I think will go down. I think that as the sport continues to grow, production companies will be tempted to spend money on R&D, and markers, paint and safety equipment production prices will go down, resulting in lower comsumer prices.
I don't really think there will be any long range earth shattering changes. We are a sport that many people dismiss as barbaric, violent and dangerous, so I don't see its popularity skyrocketing in the near future, so My safe wager is that you'll never see it in the olympics.
That being said, I don't see it outlawed generally. Specific town ordinances may wish to limit or outlaw the game, but alot of rural places just won't care.
Again, no serious changes.

I think at the very least it will end up on TV as regular programming.
Producers will find new camera techniques to make it easier to film in
a way that entertains the masses. I'm thinking helmet/gun cams and
combat cameramen who will follow squads into scenario games and stuff.

I predict that paintball will slowly but surely overtake our modern
warfare techniques.
Within the next ten years, in fact, I foresee that actual guns will not even
exist, as they will be replaced with paintball guns, and empires will rise and
fall with ten man X-Ball.

Maybe my new playing style will become more popular, if anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about I'm getting a game together where everyone can use a pump or pistol(10 round clip only for pistols), 1/10th can use a stingray(with a 15 round clip and no barrel upgrades), and a 1/10th can use a Light Machine Gun (can be any semi or full auto gun, but requires a funnel style open topped hopper, a bipod or tripod, and the air source is not allowed to be mounted to anything(including harnesses) which will hopefully keep them from running and gunning and keep them stationary. So far I've got 60 people down to do this. w00t!

well, paintball could go either way...but I dont think it will ever completely be over-run by airsoft. I think that it will probably get more popular by 6 year olds watching it on tv and then buying a gun when theyre like 11 or 12...and besides, how many people do we know that have switched from paintball to airsoft??? paintball is too addicting for that

i think C3 technology will take over in the paintball industry and it will become cheaper for people to play. Guns will be advanced enough to hook them up to your computer and tweek them and make it just how u like it. and it will grow maybe enough to come on ESPN often

No offense, but I believe their is no point in woodsball. It would make much more sense to use those laser tag things from a while back. This way it would be a war reenactment with range and cosmetics. I do believe paintball will survive untill the next best thing...

I am going to have to side with Benjichang! I love woodsball.
Personally, I don't see the point to speedball, but I am not going
impose my views on someone that likes speedball. Play whatever you
like. As long as you see a point in what you do you should be
happy, am I right? So long for now...

I think it will become more of a "underground" type game again. At the
rate that its going its falling apart with all this dishonesty. not
even on the players sides but many of the compainies as well just think
of what veiwloader used to be like actually decent products now you go
out and buy a 50 dollar hopper and the neck breaks off of it. its
turning into a sport where compainies arent doing it for the game there
in it because they know its a big money making buiesness

I am beginning to see this around here now. Most people want to play tournaments. I don't see as many people on the field on any given day that arent on teams. I have gone and literally played with like 4 other kids.
Big Games are growing. I have been going to the same fields big games twice a year for 4 years. They are getting bigger every time and they evev added a third big game. they now get at least 600 people( more like 800) three times a year to play the same game. First time I went they had 450.

No point to woodsball? Then what exactly is the point of speedball? sling as much paint in as little time as possible?
Look, all these games we play, no matter WHAT form they take have the same point, and if you can't figure out what it is....take up something else, cause you're in this game for the wrong reasons.
