i just got a palmers inline that ill be using with compressed air. ive seen where it takes between 2000 and 3000 shots to break in will it hurt to dry fire it that many time to get the breakin stage out of the way and if so will it be hard on the gun

You won't get nearly as much shots per tank if your dry firing.  Just buy a case of paint and have fun with it.

Just useless wear and tear on the marker. Don't waste your time dry firing. The marker will start out good and get better through a day of play. When I started using my Stabilizer my velocity was + or - 10 to 12 fps (better than when using CO2). By the time I had gone through a case of paint my velocity had stabilized at + or - 2 or 3 fps. Variation in paintball size, brand to brand and even lot to lot, can cause velocity variations as high as 30 fps.

You might also want to shoot oil through it for about 20-30 shots. Remember to take your barrel off and put a rag over the front of the gun when doing this. Drop some oil in the asa or macro fitting if you have macro, and fire 20-30 shots through it. This will lube the insides of the reg and also your valve. After that, shoot a case or two through your gun and the Palmers should be pretty well broken in!
