So yea,  just got mine over the internet for a nominal $8 fee.

If you really dont care, then stop reading and save yourself a minute.
It was my first time taking it, and I didnt really prepare for it in any way at all.

Not really as good as I was hoping, but I did have to guess on the last part of each section. I was never much at taking tests fast.

So broken down

English- 21
Math-26
Reading-27
Science-23

Composite-24

I plan on taking it a few more times, and taking the writing portion next time.

So, if you have anything that helped you prepare for or take the test, or weird stories when taking the test, please show it.

Did you do anything to prepare for it, or just use your greatness?

well to tell the truth i took it twice, once in 7th grade on Duke's program they were running in middle school. i got selected for my TCAP(tennessee standardized test) scores. i think i got a 19 back then. i didn't prepare much then and to tell the truth, i just guessed on a third of them.

on the most recent one, i did nothing to prepare except go to sleep at 10 the night before. normally i'm up until 1.

i think its dumb that theres not just one test, theres the sat, the act, apparently the fcat....i understand specifics like a law sat or somethin, but for a regular college, it doesnt make sense....it should just be one uniform test throughout the country

i took a act prep course... got a 29 my first go... i wanted to get a 30 though.

24 isn't bad though... i believe that's well above the national average.

I took a pre-act test, and it showed I was expected to get a 26-30 on the act.

That can be taken with a grain of salt though.

The first time I got a 24. The second time I got a 29. Keep at it!

Never took ACTs, only the SATs, and as long as you have desent grades anything over 1100 will get you into a good school. As for ACTs, I know nothing about them. SATs seem easier than ACTs since there is only English/reading and Math, no science portion.

Took pre-ACT test.  Took all the practice tests and prep courses I could.  On the practice tests  I timed  myself to see  how  much time I had left and such.  It was good because it also showed me what I spent more time on, so I could study more in that area or figure out a way to pick up the pace.

I really hope not, but I may have to resort to such tactics.

26 composite was my highest score. I was shooting for a 27, but whatever. I made it into the college I wanted. The only advice I can think of is to read through old high school notes and take the practice exams and get plenty of sleep the night before, you don't want to fall asleep during the test (I've seen several people fall victim to sleep.). Do as I say, not as I do. I wish I'd have tried studying. I just didn't feel like it at the time.

Wow mbro, a 33 in science . That's impressive. Science was my worst part. Like someone else said, I just couldn't read the charts fast enough. I think I scored in the low 20's in science.

Did they change the way they score SATs or something? When I took them 3 years ago the highest total score you could get was a 1600, and 800 in each subject. I guess things have changed, or maybe its just different in MA.
