i have been pondering which marker from SP i should get for a while now...i was thinking about eather the shocker/impulse/ion/or the nerve. the ion is in my immedeate price range, i could get it the next time i go out to the shop...but i have heard good things about the nerve....should i just wait and save up my money for the nerve? or should i just get the ion?....what i'm lookin for in a marker is 1.speed 2.Size(light/tight) 3.Simple and Durable 4.Upgrades(gotta have allot of toys"

Any suggestions on what i should do?

I've never shot any of these markers, im just going off what people say...and i love smartparts. Pluss the Shocker is VERY attractive.

WRONG FORUM

but  shocker > *

but if it's out of your price range the next best thing would be the ion

stay away from impulses/nerves

nerves are glorified imps... i find it funny that sp came out with the nerve as their new high end.... and their teams continued to use the shocker.  if you're set on smart parts... i'd go with a shocker... you can find some decent used ones go for pretty cheap.  i suggest looking into the matrix line of guns as well... protos, dm4s etc.  used ones are going for really cheap as well..

You'd rather have a crappier gun than a better one because the better one has a large piece of plastic on it.

The SP8 isn't stupid, it's just marketed towards a different demographic; woodsball/scenario/milsim players who are looking for something a little faster than an A5. To each their own.

As for what marker to get; I'd say save a little and get either a Nerve or Shocker. I've owned 6 Shockers, and have a Nerve on the way to me now. They both use the same trigger frames, boards, triggers, etc. A Nerve is a few ounces heavier, but it's also much more efficient out-of-the-box. The Nerve is by no stretch of the word a 'bad gun'.

The Nerve comes fully upgraded when you do buy one.
  • Freak Barrel
  • Q-lock Feedneck
  • Max-flo Regulator
  • Smooth Trigger
    etc..
Also somthing pretty awsome about the Nerve is that you can take the bolt out while the marker is gassed up, so if you ever expirence a chop(doubt it) you can simply twist the bolt lock off remove the bolt, squeegie threw the marker, then twist your bolt back on, this wont entirely clean the marker but it will surely help in accuracy when you send a rope down the opponents Direction. I know this doesn't sound like it helps any, but when you turn on the nerve it will always start in Vision mode, so if you just turn on your marker and go, you'll never have to worry about that. Somthing else about the nerve is that it can Accept Shocker grip frames, though they will look a little out of place but it'll work with one on, so if you don't like the stock frame you can switch over to a TonTon Frame, or a Ripper Frame.

Aye Gabster, I'm getting a Nerve. Out-of-the-box efficiency is 1200-1400 shots per 68/45, and that can get better with only a couple upgrades (NDZ EQ bolt and slickshot ram). The ability to switch over to one of the PL Shocker's frames is nice, as well (I'm thinking Warped frame for mine, or maybe Ton-Ton. The CCM RIP frame's integral snatch grip sticks out past the end of the Nerve's body and looks a little funky). The only other upgrades I plan on putting on mine are a 15* foward ASA and a CP reg (which I've got laying around from a previous project. I wouldn't bother to change the Max-Flo otherwise, as it's a very comfortable and consistant reg, but I think the CP works just as good and looks a little better)

As far as new markers go, the Nerve is the best bang
for your buck currently on the market, IMO.

The fact that I'm getting mine with a full SS Freak and 68/45 mini-maxflo system for a marker that I only paid 450 for is a definate plus =)

I love how the person replying after you, who is on the same side as you, contradicts your first statement. The max-flo is also an outdated and faulty reg, fyi.
List of markers that can also do that:

Timmy
Viking
Cyborg
Bushmaster
Defiant
and all other pneumatic operated open bolt markers. The nerve is far from special when it comes to this. This is simply used as a selling point because other SP markers are spol valve markers(or use a bolt system related to it), and that isnt feasable. Way to blindly fall for the BS marketing the SP uses. Leave it to SP to use being able to clean your gun easily after a chop as a selling point.

Quote I know this doesn't sound like it helps any, but when you turn on the nerve it will always start in Vision mode, so if you just turn on your marker and go, you'll never have to worry about that.

Again, this is only being used as a selling point because other SP markers that use eyes require you to turn on the eyes manually. The nerve is that same as nearly every other marker with eyes in this department as well.

Quote Somthing else about the nerve is that it can Accept Shocker grip frames, though they will look a little out of place but it'll work with one on, so if you don't like the stock frame you can switch over to a TonTon Frame, or a Ripper Frame.

And? If its fully upgraded already, then you wouldnt need to, right?

Personal preference? Why do people put Star frames on Ego's, or any of the aftermarket frames for 'cockers? Some people don't like how the stock frame feels, so they buy an aftermarket one.

And for the record, no, I didn't contradict him. If you read my post, it says I'll only be changing the reg out because I've got a CP laying around and I think it looks a little better. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother buying it, as the MaxFlo is a very consistant and efficient reg

o rly?

Fully upgraded refers to a marker that cannot get any better performance wise. I'd say being able to add things like a slikshot or bolt for better efficiancy isnt quite fully upgraded.

So yes, you contradicted him, and yourself.
