FINALLY FINISHED!

I found a place near my house (about 10 min drive) that sold the hose and connectors I needed...  In total, I payed $16 CND for the hose, a QEV, and a pack of barbs for the QEV.

So, thanks to Tippmann and this store, I found everything I needed.

(Funnily enough, $16 was the total price for just a single 1/8'' banjo fitting.... I saved money, AND got the QEV )

Here's a pic of the setup:

Click http://media.putfile.com/Tuned-RT-with-QEV - HERE to watch the video. (RT is now tuned :D)

Feel free to comment and ask questions :)

ENJOY!

What kind of QEV is that?

Edit: I want to see some videos of it properly tuned, and with paint.

lol, nope, good old cyclone for me.  I'd never trade it for an electronic hopper, MAYBE for a q-loader, but I think they're ugly on the A-5.

Yeah, It's the clippard MEV.  I assume because you guys know about it, it works fine for the cyclone.

I won't be playing with it like this for the most part, it'll be tuned down as much as I can get it lol.  I don't use a lot of paint normally though, so the extra speed probably won't end up costing me too much.

Anyways, I can't do any extensive testing on it, I don't have a chrono or anything, but if I ever get a chance to just put some paint down field outside a game, I'll record it and let you guys check it out.

Damn was that cyclone spinning fast though...  Thought it was gonna take off!

I got it from "Wainbee" a pneumatic and hydrolics store.  They sell clippard parts and stuff.

Total cost of the QEV: $9, + the price of barbs.

I have been wanting to do this for some time now, I have just been putting it off, but now I am seriously going to get it done. I wanted to know if someone can give me the complete list of materials needed. I guess it starts out with the tubing from Tippmann used for the low-pressure kit and those t-fittings it comes with and two QEVs-one for r/t and one for cyclone... I guess. that's all I know of and I just wanted to know if there is anything else I needed to get and what sizes everything is...I have a 98 custom if that makes any difference at all-I don't think it does though. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks to all.

If you use a QEV for the RT you'll have no way of tuning it.

hehehe...

Anyways, you don't need a QEV for the R/T, just the cyclone.  I don't even know what a QEV for the R/T would do...

Here are the materials I used:

1/8" R/T Fitting (Sent from Tippmann)  --------FREE
1/8" Banjo Tee (Tippmann Again)         --------FREE
1/8" Hose from R/T to Tee (Tippmann)  --------FREE
http://www.clippard.com/store/display_details.asp?sku=MEV-2 - Clippard MEV --------------------------------- ~$9
Pack of 1/8" Barbs for MEV -------------------- ~$5
Tiny hose for Tee to MEV -------------------Guy just gave it to me.

All of this stuff can be found on the Clippard site, it's all the same stuff Tippmann uses.

Now begins the fun part... tracking down the QEV or the 1/8'' banjo...  Again, I suggest going to clippard, and finding a store near you, unless you're fine with shipping.

Yep, MEV-2.  It should be pretty easy to track down if you know who to talk to.  You'll need to buy a barb for the hose too.

Say something like "hey, I recently purchased a low pressure kit for my a-5, and my response trigger is working very poorly.  I was told I need a bigger hose...." and they'll start to tell you how that's true and stuff and they'll send it.  Beware, setting up the super rt isn't as easy as it sounds...  Once you get the parts (unless it's for a 98 custom without cyclone) you're going to need another 10/32 8" banjo fitting for the cyclone.  You can find it at www.clippard.com, but it will be much easier if you can find a place near you to pick the part up.  It's expensive BTW (for a tiny piece of metal)

Already happened when I told my friend who was trying to convince me a $700 electro, he had one thing to say: "what's a response trigger?"

Yeah, he pissed his pants.

i have a 98 custom that i would like to set up with the Super RT.  do i need the QEV, and what does the QEV do?  i have seen the list of parts, etc. needed, but i have never seen anything that explains what the QEV does or why it is necessary.  thanks.

The qev allows gas to exhaust from the cyclone instead of forcing it back into the gun like it normally would.  This causes the cyclone to cycle faster and smoother, and allowing it to reach somewhere near 21-22 balls per second.

ok, so i wouldn't need it for my custom 98 (it doesn't have the cyclone feed) to make the "Super RT" work?  thanks.
