Okay, I looked into selling my Xbox on craigslist. Basically, I found someone that was willing to pay $250. That person is in Nigeria. He claims that it is a gift, and that he'd cover shipping on his account. I recieved a document over email from him, and it is a shipping label. Here it is w/ my name and his blacked out. Basically, he told me that once he recieves the package I'll get paid by way of USPS money order. I am a noob at shipping, and my initial reaction was that this is a scam. I need the $250 bad, and as all the other offers are ppl lowballing me, I'd prefer to sell it to this guy. But I am nervous. I lol'd. Hard. Wait, once he receives the package he sends the money? Dear lord you must be dumb. And it's from Nigeria. Red flag right there. And you can buy an XBox from Gamestop for 129 used with a game, why would be pay almost double that? |

Okay, I'm not dumb I'm just desperate. Many people have recommended me not to even bother with anything from Nigeria. That was also a red flag for me, but I'm not that judgemental. The biggest thing was why would someone in Nigeria be looking on a DC Craiglist? Anyway, I was just seeing if anyone could make any sense of that or the process. I wasn't asking to be called dumb. Since when does anyone pay after delivery?.... Because we all know your going to spend 1k for a plane ticket to complain to an empty drop box when he doesnt pay. -------------

This is my correspondance with him without all the usual blabber about what is in the package: It goes from the latest to the earliest.
mail it like /... address..... city.......... state....... zip code...... so fill in the gaps.. I have just gotten an approval payment notification from
usps All you got to do now is to get the package ready for
shipping, i I will like to hear from you soonest so that, Fed-ex can
pick it up Thanks.. This is how it works, as soon as i make the payment, they will contact you and as soon as its approved . I think its safe and secured because, once payment is approved,it gives you the opportunity to monitor the payment details directly from their website and it for sure that the seller or whoever thats involve will definately receive the money order and thats why it takes them hours to approve after pending. I am buying the item for someone who will be celebrating his birthday this next weekin Africa and i intend to take him by suprise this time , to this end, as soon as my payment is approved by (USPS) United State Postal Money Order, i will like to ship the item imediately through My Fed-ex account so as to meet up with his birthday date. I will As for the shipping, you dont have to pay a dime for it cos i will be responsible for the shipping to destination. Upon approval of payment, i will send you a fed-ex prepaid shipping label to you which you will need for the shipping of the package. I will like to read from you if this is okay by you. Let me have your full name and address as it will be written on themoney order. Oh wow! LOL i just re-read one of his posts and it said that I would get an email from USPS about the xbox. And I did, and it said send the tracking number in order to recieve payment. I emailed USPS back with the tracking number and if I get the money order then I'll be happy. I looked at the email and it did say he had shipped $250 in USPS money order and that it was awaiting confirmation by way of emailing back the tracking number. I just emailed back the tracking number, adn I'm wonder what'll happen. It could be, it might not be. All I know is, when and if I get that money order, and I cash it, I don't care where the thing goes, becuase then I'll have money. But if it does turn out to be a phoney money order, then I'll just sell it to the other 6 people wanting it for $200.

Yah, EB and CD Game Exchange (which is the only local used place shop) scam people sooo bad, its not even worth it. The return is truly terrible. The best place to go with used CDs is your local FYE, they've bought slightly scratched CDs off me for $5-$10. Multiply $7 by 45 cds and you're rolling in money.

But they take all the risk. It's like a car dealer. When they take your trade in, they are going to give you less because they have to take the risk of not being able to sell the car. It's the same with EB Games, if they can't sell the game, they lose money. The longer it sits, the more they lose. |

I beg of you, do not do this. It is 100 % a scam. Type in "nigerian inernet scam" in google, and you will see. If you MUST go through with it, do not send it untill you have money in your hand. Yah, thats why I'm waiting to see if the money order, which is supposed to now get here in 2-3 days, will cash. If it doesn't then screw him. It does seem suspicious, but I am willing to wait and see if a supposed $250 money order will cash or not. Can anyone guess what it is?......@accountant.com! Just google that and you'll find 1,000,000 pages of how people got scammed. Does anyone feel like devising something close to the P-P-Powerbook project? Perfect opportunity here!
