Subject: Why 98 A.C.T. and not A-5 too?

I recently heard about the anti-chop system that is under devolpment by tippmann and man was I pumped untill I found out that it will not be sold as an upgrade to existing tippmanns but come stock on the new 98 customs. That is horribile! If I was going to have to buy another 98 custom to enjoy this new tec. I might as well save up and get a highend marker. I have a A-5 and a 98 custom already and have enjoyed up grading them but I don't feel the need to buy another 98 just to see how good the anti chop works? I think the marketing people are making a mistake by not selling the A.C.T. system as an upgrade that could be put into any 98 or A-5. Also I wonder if the 98 that comes with A.C.T. will even need it. I mean will it come with the new E-grip that has the was board already installed? Is it going to be shooting at a high enough rate to need anti-chop? So many questions I wish a tippmann rep. would respond to this thread.

If enough people ask for an upgrade kit then it will come. Tippmann,
like any good company, responds to the demands of its customers so just
rally a bunch of people that agree with you and have them make their
opinion heard.

My A-5 went through like 15 cases in it's lifetime... zero chops. No need for ACS when it has the Cyclone on it.
As for someone from Tippmann reading this, it wont happen.

From the sound of it, you could probably modify one to fit with a little bit of milling.
But why? The A-5 will usually skip before it chops anyway.

A5 has Cyclone. Don't need ACT
My ProE has a Cyclone. I don't plan on getting a new body w/ ACT. No need.

Tippmann has gotten a little greedy by switching the barrel threads on the 98c and now marketing the ACT in new markers but not old ones. But it will probably be an upgrade before long. It will; be nothing but buying a few main parts including the rear bolt and possibly the rear bolt plug and linkage arm. Did anyone acctually read the article about the new ACT by tippmann?
and furthermore, higher rof makes ACT more ipmortant (sometimes neccesary)

doesnt affect me too much, i kept the stock internals, so im not shooting fast enough to chop, it looks like a good idea though.

it would be a complete waste to have it in an a5....the cyclone prevents chops (atleast up to 18bps or so)

Greedy? Why, what can you say to back up that claim?
ACT isn't a drop-in "upgrade" like a new barrel bud. It requires either the body to be milled out to accept it, or to get whole new receiver halves. Tippmann should just give those out for free? Do you have any idea how much that would cost?
And changing the barrel threads is due to complaints of people saying the barrels get loose too easy. They're fixing a problem.

it needs the act bolt becuz it has the was board and at high rates of fire on ramping for example it would probably blend every last bit of paint in the loader just think

yeah. the A.P.E board lets it go up to something like 25bps. now, i've heard
of people putting a valve on the cyclone's piston to make it keep up(it went
like 20 bps or something). You wouldn't need ACT with that, either. but in
my opinion, boards like the APE and WAS shoot too fast. you shouldn't need
more than 17bps.

the new pro E's need the ACT cuz they now come stock with the WAS board. also tippmann wont sell the ACT as an upgrade cuz it forces people to mill their gun (voiding their warranty) and it makes no sense to sell something that forces people to void their warranty

You could probably buy the linkage arm, bolt and whatever else you need from some website claiming that yours broke and put it in.

What are the chances of them coming out with an upgrade or is it just worth selling the ones we have and getting it brand new.

They have to mill the guns to fit the act or will they come out with a kit that will avoid doing that but does the same thing.

That could be the reason it would be expensive as an upgrade. They may have to include reciever halves as well.
