China's censorship is absolutly retarded. It's blended the most efficient features of communist and capitalist ideas to create a situation where the people can be made to work for pennies and the government can accept all kinds of foreign investment and get filthy rich while screwing the general population.

I can see China with it's booming economy wanting to secure resources in the future, and probably using military force to do so. There are a few Islands in the south pacific that multiple countries have disputed claims over, the islands aren't a big deal, all the oil under them is.

Fortunatly, at this time China's military isn't very modern, and their ability to launch an amphibious assault is limited.

As horribly pissed off as I was at Bush for the Indian nuclear deal in light of the Iranian situation, when taken in the context of China, it'd be nice to have a really big friend. The world's most populace democracy with a population that's one fith of humanity kinda fits that description. Besides, India has something of a navy as well, and with them less reliant on petroleum, the US and China have more to feed themselves on. I'm glad to see developing countries like that trying to bypass petroleum dependancy all together.

Since when do we fight only land wars? As has been shown in Iraq, our airpower can quickly decimate(figurative term, decimate implies killing 1 in 10, this would be more like 8/10) massed divisions.

I think if China ever got agressive, between the US, UK India, maybe even Russia would put them in their place quickly. The deal is, we probably wouldn't need to take the entire country over in a situation like that, just send them packing back across the border and wreck their warmaking capabilities.
