So it's official now, Dell owns Alienware.
Thoughts/opinions?
I personally think they should split up Dell's PC market and put all the gaming stuff(XPS series) under the Alienware name, then put all the business/casual user stuff as Dell.

Oh, and P.S -- Microsoft just delayed Vista till 2007.

I never expected that. I think Dell should just eliminate the XPS line now and keep Alienware as a separate gaming subsection of Dell.

Software? I wasn't aware Alienware sold software.
A gaming rig made of the same components built by Alienware is the same as one made of the same components built by any individual.

Its not good, thats the thing. It will do what OS X does now (they even re-structured their file system to match) It burns something like 800 MB or ram, and fills 7 gigs of HD space. All that for an OS that does what already can be done?

Meh. I hate Dell. Personally, I do not believe they are worth the money, due to stupid manufacturing, and limitations to upgradability.

Just watched those first two vids, didn't want to bother downloading the third. Most of that stuff can also be done with Windows XP with a few tweaks, powertoys, or free programs. I don't think those "features" highlight Vista though, they're just some neat things that the masses will understand and like. It goes a bit deeper than that.

Not really. Another vista official "feature" was "photorealistic wallpaper"....
who cares? What was stopping them before? I'm pretty sure they can do that already...
And my point is, with OS X, that stuff is built in, you dont tweak things, its just the basics/ intuitive things that people know exist. Now its like "omg vista, look what you can do, its all new!" cause it will be built in too.

Can we honesly expect any good operating system from Microsoft?
Sure, if you take care of it then there is a chance you aren't paying
for a $250 virus. For the average person, they are spending money
on old technology (new to windows) and jepordizing the safety of their
computers because they are ignorant to malicious software usually
because they are too lazy to hit the "update" button on the scanners.

I don't understand why everyone hates Windows so much. Once you get past the fact that it's made by a huge corporation that basically has a monopoly on the OS industry, it's not a bad operating system. I've never gotten the blue screen of death using 98, 2000, and XP Home and Pro. Maybe I had problems with 3.1, but I can't really remember. If you're not an idiot, and you stay away from shady sites and pr0ns, you won't have any problems with windows.

Show me. I dare you. I want numbers, links, solid proof that you can build a gaming rig that is just as good as a high end Alienware for 1/2 the price.
I built my own computer just last year, and I know there are certain advantages/disadvantages, you can save some cash here and there, but claims like this are ridiculous.
