i think the stang here has a 302 and theirs plenty of room. but it doesnt have a grill or anything else under the hood. its been prity well stripped... its in norfolk VA I64 and R13 ------------- saving the world, one warship at a time. |

| Looks good. I'm literally right in the middle of restoring a 73 MACH 1. It's going to be a mild drag car. It's got a beefed up 351 cleveland putting out about 600 hp. I'd post pics, but theres nothing to look at right now cause its stripped down to the bare frame. Maybe I can find some pics I took when I first got it. |

i got a 69 shelby gt 500 clone but a pole fell on the roof, its got a 351 windser with edlebrock victor jr. aluminum heads, aluminum victor jr. intake/ custom exuast made by my dad(its doesn't have mufflers but sounds like it, but makes the same amount of power as it would with open headers)hooker headers, holley 750, stef's oil pan, bored 30 over with fordged pistons, and to top the beast off a large turbo, 5 speed, silver with black int. and stripes, torqe thrust 2's, strange rear end, ford 9in, strange axels, slammed on the ground. it's realy rough but what i just wrote wil happen in like 2 years cuase im doin my old pickup right now but im not makin everything up, it will have everything i listed

why do people put wings on front wheel drive cars? The whole point of a wing or spoiler is to give downforce on the rear tires for better traction with rear wheel drive cars. I don't understand this import craze. |

Hey everyone, I don't agree with the whole coupes are better than fastbacks. Although I have a coupe, I just like the fastbacks better, but as long as I drive a Mustang that is all that matters. So what does everyone think of the new Mustangs? The only problem with those cars is the uni-body design. The frame is not complete. So in a front end or rear crash the passenger will collapse. Severly harming and most likely killing all the passengers. Food for thought. -------------

Typically, if you're going to use the 'R-word', rice, doesn't the term 'rice-rocket' imply a sports car of Japanese origin? I'm confused as to how you seemed to have contradicted yourself. Oh, and thanks for bringing up that 350Z of which is nothing but a seemingly easy target...
How 'bout this, Modern Technology and Crumple Zones > Good older technology, but modern times have to prevail for safety.
Initially, I think from a cursory look at that car, it is setup for performance although its exterior modifications may seem to belie that. That grill-thingie in the front is a front-mount, air-to-air intercooler which cools air forced from a turbocharger before it reaches the intake manifold. That hood scoop serves to feed air to the aforementioned inherently heat-producing turbocharger. The rims are lightweight and super-strong if they're the forged ones of which I'm thinking. The suspension appears to befit all the other power modifications, seeing as the car conceivably puts down about 400+wheel horsepower if it has a twin-turbo configuration and about 380+WHP for a single-turbo. It's aerodynamics via front lip, body kit, wing, are, for the most part, rather functional seeing as... The Nissan 350Z is a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive setup with a longitudinal, normally aspirated 3.5L V6. Depending on the model, it puts out in excess of 280 engine HP and handles great in its class. I've seen countless ones perform well from every level of motorsport from novice Autocross, various SCCA/NASA events all the way up to professional Japan and European touring leagues. Since their inception Datsun/Nissan Z-cars have been winning races, simply put they're great cars at a relatively decent price. I've owned an '84/85 300ZX V6 3.0L turbo and it was sweet for what it was. The import craze is exactly what you called it. It's just a means for people to be proud of what they have in a trendy fashion. Granted, there are some setups which are gaudier than others, but, well, taste is subjective. The reason why it is so popular, because, from at least what I've seen, is that reliable, econo-imports like Honda Civics, etc can be acquired cheaply and there is a huge aftermarket domain out there to appease everybody from people who do 'tasteful' modifications pertaining to actual performance and handling to Euro taillights and $15 melon-shooter mufflers which make Briggs & Stratton engines sound like Ferrari's. Bottom line... Nice Mustang dude, definately keep us posted. Sorry that this turned into an ‘American Muscle>Rice' thread. I'm a fan of all kinds of cars and everyone is entitled to their opinion, but ultimately it seems some people should chill out, open up a Car & Driver, have a Coke, a smile and HAND, have-a-nice-day

NICE, dude the '69s are my favorites of all Mustangs. I don't know what it is about them as to why I like them so much, I just love everything about them. To me, that is what a Mustang is supposed to look like; big, bold, and even if it isn't that fast, still looks like it will burn the rubber right off of the wheels. I just wish I could afford one of those now, I found one on eBay that had surface rust and none of the parts were the same color and it sold for over $30,000. If I owned one, I would do the origional yellow and black with the Mach 1 stripes. The only thing that would keep me from wanting to put a 428 under the hood is the price it would cost to keep gas in the tank, but I could manage somehow... No kiddin dude, that bugs the crap out of me these people that have a whole junk yard full of old Mustangs and stuff and won't sell them to the people who really want one like me. For example, there is this one old guy who has this HUGE junkyard at his house and I noticed several fastbacks and possibly some 500's or 350's in there and I asked him if he would sell one of them. Of course the guy said the same thing "We aren't open" and I was like "Dude, its 12:00!" He just won't sell them. Along with the 'stangs there was all kinds of old cars like Bel Airs, Chevelles, Novas, Camaros, just about everything it really ticks me off that he just lets them sit and rust to nothing, he is really missing out on a fortune by not selling them. Pretty sure if thats a SERIOUS wing it'll help aerodynamics. I hate when people have problems w/ cars like that 350z that people put time and money into to make good looking, and good performance, when they don't even have a car, or have a crappy one at that. Nice 'stang but i'm not really a fan of Ford, other than their trucks. I LOVE classic cars, but if i was ever wanting to go fast and be able to handle well, i'd "supe up" what you guys call a "ricer," not a classic car. ------------- O look, there's nothing here! |

you car noob. this post angers me for many reasons. yes the saleen s7 is a supercar, and yes it does go fast. but comparing an s7 to even the finest tuned tuner or the baddest blown muscle car is like comparing a lion to a kitten. plus, off the lot, an s7 is $700,000+. id like to see you own one... also, the saleen s7 maxes out at around 205. still fast, but not as fast as you claim. finally, SALEENS ARE NOT FORDS!!!!!!!! i cannot emphasize that enough. saleen is a specialty company that has obtained the rights from ford to make the mustang a supercar. ford is only affiliated with saleen in this way. plus, the s7 has NOTHING in common with any ford, not even the gt. ------------- Evil Elvis: "Detrevni is definally like a hillbilly hippy from hell"

woah woah woah, this is not going to be a frigging car comparing thread, leave a comment about the car, and shut up about the friggin ricers, NOBODY CARES, and who gives a dingos kidneys if a Saleen S7 is nice, as DeTrevni said, thats kind like comparing two completely different things, jeez. and yes there are MUCH nicer prod. cars than the s7, ill name a few...... Ferrari FFX, Pagani Zonda, Mclaren F1 LE, Lamborghini Murcialago(sp), and probly a lot more, so cool it man..............
