No, the flatline barrel is for woodsball. The extra weight doesn't help either.

the flatline will not work in speedball simply do to the fact that it was made for range and not accuracy it is hevvier than most barrels because it has most metal than most barrels 'cause of the duel-bend design of the barrel it is no good in speedball

I have to disagree to a point.  If you play indoor speedball (or other places with no wind or other weather that would cause a problem with accurate shots from the flatline), and you are a backman, the flatline works wonders.  However, if you play in open fields, I wouldn't suggest it.  Then again, try it for yourself and see if you like it better than your run of the mill straight barrel.

i think not though. the flatline does have the accuracy of a normal barrel at the distance a normal barrel can shoot at.  The problem is that at the distance the flatline can shoot and other barrels cant it is not as accurate as it would be normal paintball range.  Thus people deam it unacurate.

What good is range without accuracy ?, It is just as accurate as any barrel

Not entirely accurate (no pun intended).  The flatline is just as accurate if not more accurate than a standard barrel (i.e your bigshots etc.) in the right conditions.  You have to ask yourself before buying:  will I always play in the ideal conditions for the flatline?  The answer will most likely be no, but I have one, and on certain occasions, I play with it.  On those days, there is no wind or moisture.  Needless to say, on those days, the flatline is a god among mere mortals in a way.

Agreed but shoot it at the same distance a standard barrel will go and those effects are the same on both barrels

Incorrect. Due to the backspin the flatline puts on the ball it is affected more greatly by the elements

hmm. so your saying if i shoot my flatline into the wind the ball would be more apt to rise more than if shot downwind? kinda like the philosophy behind jets and airports

Due to the backspin the paintball is less affected by those elements.

I have never used my Flatline anywhere but on the speedball field! At the long back line to back line distances it makes spectacular shots. The flat trajectory aids dead on accuracy at 20 to 40 yards. But, for all that, my Apex is an even better barrel for speedball.

The Flatline isn't heavy, at least on a 98C. And its length helps one lie into the air bunker to make shots with less exposure to the opponent's fire. If you get a super deal on a Flatline ($40-$60) then take it. Otherwise look hard at the Apex before you plop down your money.

The apex is a better idea, but there is no reason why the flatline can not be useful in speedball.

I used to play quite a bit of speedball with my Flatline.  The main advantage, to me, was the flat trajectory, which allowed me to quickly aquire a target - particularly if I was switching between different targets at different range.  No need to adjust elevation, just point and shoot.
