Hey i just recently recieved a 98c w/a  flatline(actually it was just today). I've installed the flatline and what not, but the barrel seems to be able to move around(twist moreso, if i use enough force... and it's not that much force)... no matter how tight i screw the part that seems to clamp it in place(where normal barrels would screw in). 

I'd like some help on this.. is my shroud not tight enough??  Or is the little clamp not tight enough?(it's not to the point where both metal ends are touching, but it's tight to the point where my fingers really burn just to turn the allen key).

Any help would be much appreciated

Sorry, I skimmed your first post too fast and missed the fact that you said 98C.

The shroud makes no difference to the function of the Flatline. You could leave it off.

The barrel is held tightly by the adapter. The adapter screws into the front of the marker. With the marker screw through the site boss and the screw through the front handle boss loosened the adapter should be screwed into the receiver as far as it will go or at least until the adapter split lines up with the bottom seam between the two halves of the receiver (shells). Then tighten the sight and front handle screws. This should hold the adapter tightly enough that you cannot turn it in the receiver.

Loosen the clamping screw of the adapter and place the barrel into the adapter rotating it slightly side to side to seat it all the way to the bottom of the adapter. The manual says that to assure complete seating that the end of the barrel may be tapped with a mallet (Wood or plastic...something that will not mar the end of the barrel).

Once seated the barrel needs to be rotated to get proper alignment (getting the top of the barrel arch so that when fired the balls do not curve left or right) Then tighten the clamping screw. With the adapter clamping screw and the sight and handle screws tight, the barrel should not be movable with hand pressure.

Test fire! If the ball consistently curves left or right the loosen the adapter clamping screw and rotate the barrel left or right to correct the curve. Make sure the barrel is still seated fully (bottomed) in the adapter and re-tighten the clamping screw. Repeat until the barrel is aligned to shoot straight.

If you continue to get inconsistent flight path results, remove the barrel and wash it in hot water with dish detergent (like Dawn Liquid).

With these screws tightened the barrel should not move until you take it apart again.

I got it all tuned out, notched it also, so i'll see how it goes... Would notching it on the shroud be a bad idea??  Could the shroud move or what? 

Oh, and the screw on the barrel adapter was stripped right at the "head" of the screw, so i couldn't tighten it after it hit that point... so i put on a nut and it tightened super tight.

You have the Tippmann plastic shroud? I find it so flexible that it never, hardly ever, ends up in the same position twice.

Any darn place you want! Tell me how you are going to make the shroud line up with the marks you use for reference? The shroud doesn't really clamp to anything tightly. If you mounted a sight on it and later removed and reinstalled the shroud you would have to re-zero the sight (red dot or what ever). In other words there is no value in trying to make it go back to a specific reference point since other variables, and its own softness, just doesn't lend itself realignment for a purpose.

Barrel to adapted and adapter to receiver marks can help in alignment to return to original point of aim, but still doesn't guaranty that the zero point remains the same. Parts on these markers just do not fit that precisely. I was never able to reinstall my Flatline one time to the next and get the same zero point. I always had to shoot and adjust sight alignment.
