I want to buy a paintball gun. What gun do you think is the best for beginners?

For a beginner, more than likely some type of Tippmann. By default, A5's are the best (and most upgradeable), but the 98 series is cheaper and pretty upgradeable as well (with the exception of the regular Model 98, just about the only thing upgradeable about that is the barrel).

Is the A5 durable and reliable as the 98custom?

I was looking at this on ebay. Yeah, seems like a pretty good deal to me. I think I bought my A5 from famousguy, too. And A5's are more reliable than 98's. If you're going to be playing speedball more than woods, then you might want to get an Ion (~$300), or preferably a Nerve (~$475).

I think I will be playing a little speedball but alot of woods (I live right next to woods). So yup, I'm going with the A5 unless someone changes my mine some how.

On his sales page it says :You can add a Flatline Barrel or an Egrip to this purchase with no additional shipping charges..Which one would should I pick and why?

e-grip will give you more speed, more woodsball players use RT instead of this

the flatline gives you more distance, which is very popular among woods players

so, more distance, or speed

I think I would prefer more speed. If I was to buy a 98custom would it be okay for speedball and woods or go with the A5 for both?

A5 is better for both, but it weighs a little bit more. If you have upper body strength better than a kitten, it shouldn't bother you.

I would disagree. The A-5 is a larger and more clumsy marker than the 98c, therefore it is not as well not suited for speedball. I would suggest the A-5 if you plan on playing mostly woods, but if you play 50/50 woods and speed or more speed I would lean towards the 98c.

I would definetely take the 98 over the A5. The 98 is more upgradable then the A5, and little bit more reliable.  I have used an A5 and I still own a 98, and I was not impressed by the A-5 at all. The A5 is also pretty over priced in my opinion.

yea same, i would definitely take a 98. and i would get an r/t as well. if it rains u can still go pbing if u have the r/t. but if u have the egrip u have to worry about it getting wet. the a-5 isnt that great, it costs more for stupid reasons+i am not a big fan of cyclones. the 98c is a better buy imo. and i bought a trigger from famousguy.

So if I buy the 98c it will be good for woods/speedball. This will be better for me because they are much cheaper :). Will I need to put a upgrade on it for it to be good for both or will it be redy to go right out the box?

The a-5 is a great gun.  Gabby doesn't like cyclones because of their looks.  They're actually an amazing hopper once you think of thier design and their efficiency.  And I've played in the rain with my egrip, and it didn't get wet @ all.  It'd have to be floating in order for it to screw up.  It doesn't cost more for stupid reasons.  It comes with a 17 bps hopper stock, and the body is extremely well made.

Get a 98 Custom Pro ACT.   It features a better drop forward, inside milling (when compared with the old 98c), and something else I can't remember.

jack u didnt play in the rain. there was that one time and it sprinkled. and ur right i dont like the looks of it and its annoying that if u dont have enough air it woon spin or work. it does run off air u dont use but its dumb. lol. again i say the 98c or c pro because u can have the choice of getting or not getting the cyclone.

If water is falling from the sky, thats called rain.  And if you say "I don't like it at all" then you should atleast tell the person why.  The A-5 would be a really good starter gun because you already have a simple and easy to use hopper stock with your gun.  And it does spin fine on low air.

I hated my A-5, but my 98's rock hard.

So, I say either a 98 or an Ion. With the SP price drop, now are about the same price, and you shouldn't go wrong with either one.

One piece of advice: if you lean woods, go 98.

If you lean speedball, go Ion.

lol. When I was in 5th grade I shot my friend in the neck with his own 98c. We was playing target practice on a soccer field and I shot him in the neck. He had a big lump on his neck for a month.

Maybe for woodsball you could play right away but for speedball you will defenitly need some upgrades like the E-trigger. A dubble trigger and drop forward would be handy. Also a new barrel but i don't have experience with speedball so i don't now what barrel you should buy.

I don't think you can go wrong with an A5 or 98c. I have a 98 Custom with a 14" All American and an A5 with a 14" All American barrel, & R/T. I prefer my A5 over my 98c even before putting on the response... The only downside to my A5 is that it seems to use more air than my 98c...

I play 100% woodsball...

Pro E would be fine, but I would suggest the Ion. They are fine for both speedball and woodsball.  And they would make killer guns if you upgrade them.  They are only $200 right now.  Thats great for an Ion.  With a few ups, it will be unstoppable.
