Does anyone know anything about them? I'd like to get into them, well, at least get one so I can ride it instead of my 180-dollar-per-month-for-gas car. That and I just think they're really cool. I'm not lookin for a hog, I like the street bike or "crotch rocket" style better, but I don't need anything really fancy, I'm just kinda looking for a good bike for a beginer.....Any help?

I hear you about the gas prices. I have an old Honda that I plan to repair later in the spring for some cheap transportation. Not sure of your age, but you may want to take motorcycle insurance costs into account. ------------- If I flee, kill me If I die, avenge me |

Im going to get a nice one in a couple years. Crotch rocket i think.

Yeah, I thought of that too hway, I'm 18 but I know car insurance is still pretty steep for me....And yeah, I'll check into one of those schools, but my dad rides a harley, so he might be able to teach me....

| I've been off mine for a couple. People just don't look for or see anyone on a bike. Have had to lay mine down a few times over the years to avoid hitting people who pull out or squeeze you into the rail or median. Start small, cheap, and be careful. |

I started riding early last summer and am haveing a BLAST. I went with a smaller cruiser for both inshurance and comfort reasons. My bikes fully paid off and costs me $700 a year or $50/month to inshure (less than my truck). ITs a 2000 Yamaha Vstar Classic 650. I took a rider safty course as well and would STRONGLY sugggest it to ANYONE EVEN if you know other riders. BOTH my Mother, AND my older Brother ride and i still took the course and benifited as sutch. Pluse the course was FUN. Those little 125CC bikes were a blast to boot around with and learning on them gave me ALOT more confidence to ride my own. My bikes is a pretty deecent all round bike with PLENTY of get up and go and its comfy for long hauls looks great and is plain fun to ride. So far i managed to pull of 65mpg. Its a very stable bike and really helps build confidence. By mid summer i was drggging th pegs throught the turns with the best of em. It can pull along fine with even some of the 1200CC cruisers and even looks the part (NEVER GUESS ITS A 650CC). Eventualy maaybe next season i plan to get the 1100 vershion of this bike as i simply LOVE this bike but am ready now for more juice. IF you do end up getting a sprot bike id probly reccomend a very small CC bike to begine with. Maybe something like a 500 KAWASAKI NINJA. TONS of go and great in the turns but alot more forgiving than even the 600ccs of today. Pluse anything 600cc or more in a sport bike and inshurace is gona have you beding over and getting out the reamer. What ever you decide stay smart keep the rubber side down and BECARFULL. I have already seen one persone die riding dont want to read about any more. P.S. heres a few pics of my bike Parked for the night beside my mothers bike  close up of the shiny stuff (look like a 650 to you?)  My fat but bringing it in for the night (im 6" 280lbs)  Me with the babe on the back  (DONT worry i never even put it in gear. i thought about getting a bike. 3k for a brand new ninja(?) i only looked for a few days. my 93 olds got 33 mpg and only cost me 70$ a month to insure.
around here (virginia beach) with the amount of traffic, tourests, and condition of the roads it would be less dangerous to kick a cop in the nuts. from what ive heard their cold in the winter, hot in the summer, and wet in the rain. so you should keep a car around anyways. ------------- saving the world, one warship at a time. |

I am looking for a bike for college, to save in gas and an easier way to park. I am like you, I dont like big oversized hogs, but I also am alittle intimidated by super-engined crotch-rockets. I found my solutions in Triumph. I really love these bikes, I checked some out at a dealership awhile ago, they are sexy. Hey if you feel like dropping an extra few grand and crappy breaks, underpowered transmissions, and heavy/akward cooling systems, just so your bike says "Harley Davidson", be my guest.
