If it came in the mail, it probably has no air in it. I don't think they're allowed to send pressurized tanks in the mail.

Maybe not though.

Yup. Sounds like your gauge is hosed. I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble to return the whole tank... or if you're better off just replacing the gauge yourself.

If there actually is no gas in the cylinder, then the gauge is defective. Contact the seller and they may send you a new one, for free. Sending the whole tank back to have the valve replaced may cost as much as the gauge. If your seller will not replace it for free then obtain one from one of the on-line stores. Palmer Pursuit shows a good selection on their web page.

Or, if when pressurized there is no leak in the body of the gauge, you could just use it as is... knowing that an 800 reading on the gauge is the actual zero point. Actually, this is the best idea if you bought the tank from an individual rather than a store.

if I may ask, what store or online retailer did you purchase this product ?  this should have never happened if they have a simple quality assurance test before shipping the item.  That is what you call pi$$ poor management.

Well then ask the guy if that it was broken when he sent it, he probably will say no but who knows youll probably just have to get the gauge replaced
