Waste of money. The only thing I really care about when it comes to phones is that it gets good service and makes phone calls. I could care less about all that other crap.

Ditto. Even the phone I have now, which was as "basic" as they seem to come these days (the "free" phone)... has too many bells and whistles for my liking.
I only need the PHONE, and the memory listing. I don't need anything else. Calendar, camera, video, color screen, mp3 player, ring tones, games, taser, coffee maker... wasted on me.
Give me a phone that will take and make PHONE CALLS... and enable me to look up numbers I'd otherwise forget. I'll trade in everything else for longer battery life.

I'm still waiting for the device that replaces my laptop, mp3 player and phone.
Until then... *yawn*
But we're finally seeing some hard-drive mp3 player phones, which is a good sign of things to come.

It's a lot like . It has the same camera, same pixel screen, and the same design. The only thing the Sony doesn't have is the 1gb of flash memory and the FM.

Meh, I wouldnt want a HD in my phone, it'd be so broken. People drop their phones too much. I'd way rather have lots of flash in mine.

not really. oh and why are we worried about hard drives in phones? if we develop flash memory further, it may far surpass moving drives.

I have to disagree, the thing is wider and longer than a lot of other phones out there, the thinness isn't that special in my eyes. Other wise, I mean, what else does it have? It's black, it has blue tooth, mp3, a metal keypad that I personally find very annoying, a camera....it kinda looks cool. That's it. It's over priced and over hyped and they're just now comming out with cool colors....If it had windows moble I might consider it, right now, it's just, very arguably, "cool".
But yeah, I agree, flash is where it's at, but the future is http://hardware.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/03/28/2226239&from=rss - holographic storage...

Yeah, but Ryan, we don't want people to strain their hip carrying a big bulky cellphone. I mean, and iPod, AND a cellphone? That could be crippling to one's spinal alignment in the long run.
</sarcasm>
In my opinion, people are simply weak. I'll take a slightly larger device that has more functionality as a result.

Here here, I'd carry a psp if it had some office features and a cellphone...Hell, I'd carry one of those things Microsoft used to call Origami, if it'd fit in my pocket....
Edit: don't get me wrong, small is cool, hence the hawt phone from the first post, but I don't mind giving that up for functionality...

I don't think the size of an electronic device that people prefer has much to do with the weight of it. It has to do with the convienience. People wouldn't complain about a phone because it is too heavy, they'd say it makes too big of a buldge in their pocket, or doesn't fit. That's why the RAZR got a lot right. Thin, small device, lots of surface area when you open it up.

tom has a very good point. the razr's screen is awesomely large. yes, the thin size is very cool because it keeps a low profile in my pocket. it does more than mp3 ringtones, bluetooth communication, and "have an annoying metal keyboard." you just have to be educated on the hardware if you wish to get the most out of your razr. btw that v3x does far more than any other phone i've seen. a 2 MP external camera w/flash and macro modes and a secondary internal camera as well as a sleek'er' keyboard design(reminds me of the PEBL). don't be hatin' on a phone until you own one and can point out it's shortcomings.
i'm tired of people who say "mine makes a call, it's all you need." some of us DO enjoy the extra features. we don't knock your simple phones, so don't knock our sophisticated ones. and ryan, the razr is overpriced if you buy it from the wrong place. if you truly wish to find one at a low price it's not hard at all.

Meh, I'm not really saying that it's a bad phone, I just hate how everyone acts like it's god-in-my-pocket....
Oh and, to the folks that say "my phone makes calls", the cellphone is in the midst of a sort of evolution. It's changing from being just a convienient phone to an ultra-portable mini-computer that does everything all the other devices you own do, plus makes calls. It's seriosuly just like the evolution of the computer from a big sophisticated calculator to a little portal to the world that does anything you'd ever want, besides make you breakfast....'Course, that's comming....
