So my girlfriend has been sick for like a week. I hadn't seen her for like 4 days, because her mom always knows what's best for both of us, until today when we got to hang out for a while becuase she ~thought~ she was better. Anyway, she got sick again and I had to go home. Well, that was fine 'cause we've both been sick before and I can deal with not seeing her and all, but about 20 minutes ago she called me and said that she went back to the hospital and her mom is making her take a pregnancy test because she "knows" we've done stuff and she thinks that might be why she's sick....AND THAT'S ALL I GOT. I'm 18 and she's 17, we've been together for around 2 and a half years, I'm in college, and we are definately not at a good spot to be having a kid. I know if she's pregnant it's our fault and I need to do what I need to do but I'm seriously freaking out. Just the fact that her mom "knows" we've done stuff could really screw us up majorly. I don't know what the results are or anything so it's just blind panic but it's bad....Cross your fingers or give advice or whatever, I just had to get that out....

that sucks dude....well if shes 17 i assume that shes a senior in high school soon to be 18...when shes 18 her mom cant really do anything besides of disowning her so youll be able to see her at least....good luck though man

If she's pregnant, by the time she's sick it's already too late. Morning after pill is a godsend though- my girl and I had to do that once after a rubber broke.

Best of luck, Ryan- here's hoping she's jsut a bit sick and will get over it.

No, just turned 17, still screwed for a year. And if she is pregnant, I'm taking care of the kid. I don't like abortion and it's too late for a morning after pill....

God, I don't care if she is 17, she's not living in the home she lives in with my kid in/with her....I have no problem staying with her, we're basically engaged, but her family is absolutely wacked and they live in a craphole. And her dad smokes.....this could be so bad...

Good luck.  That's why you wait until you're married man.  Never risk it.  I know I'll get flamed for this or something of the sort, but it's good advice.

good luck, hope she's not pregnant for your sake. if she is, however, glad to hear you say you will be there to take care of the kid.

I would advise to not go that way. A 17 and 18 year old living together, with a baby, without an education, trying to support each other will not work.

HV: My politics are more mixed than you might think. Thanks for being cool though.

CS: I'm tryin man. It's hard though. And I usually prefer that my learning experiences not completely alter my life....

Sammy: I don't care if we have to live with my grandparents for a while, I hate that she has to live like that. I wont allow my kid to.

Everyone else: Thanks for the support, it actually means a lot.

Man, I'm tired too. I actually think it's a defense mechanism I've developed, I get tired when I get stressed. But yeah, it sucks, I have to wait up for her call....

It is good advice, but pretty unrealistic. It's incredibly hard to wait until you're married. Some people can do it. I sure couldn't.

Believe it or not Ryan i was named the father of my exgirlfriends baby. i was with her for almost 2 years, any ways i had left her and over spring break of 10th grade (about 5 month after i left her) i got a call from her telling me she was pregnant... freakin great. i told my mom, she freaked and almost killed me. any way July 10 2004 she was born (thats also my birthday) any way i went and saw her the next day in the hospital (i hadnt seen her since we broke up) any way the leagal crap started with blood testing, it was now end of winter/ begining for spring 2005, i had gone to parenting classes that the state forced me to go to, any way i was in D.C. last spring break and i got a call from my mom, results where back i wasnt the father (thank God) i havent had sex since (about 2 1/2 years). the other guy she claims it could be is some how dodging taking a test, not sure how.

Wow man, hardcore...I'm pretty positive that, if she's pregnant, it's mine though. We spend like 99% of our time together and she is totally not the type to sleep around. She's almost scared of a lot of guys....I kinda think that would kill me as much as if I did all of the sudden have a kid too...

I hope everything turns out ok.  If she is pregnant, it will be harder on both of you guys just trying to make it work.  Hopefully you guys get some support from family if she is.  Trying to raise a child these days are harder especially if you are young parents who are not established(good education/job).  Good luck and hope that she is not pregnant.

I feel for you and hope everything works out, but I gotta say it; you shouldn't have to worry about this as much if you wrap it up and use birth control. I wont tell you not to have sex, cause if someone told me that i'd laugh in their face but be smart about it if your gonna do it when your not ready to support a family.

I dunno, I hope it all works out for you, but really Ive never had much sympathy for unplanned pregnancy. Theres just so many ways of birth control theres no excuse not to use it.

Dont be a silly, put a dilly on your willy.

so you're an unmotivated, broke, sickly guy with a potnetially unplanned parenthood? you need more than just a "good luck."

...honestly, i don't really know how you could accidently get a chick pregnant, it's just too easy to avoid it (unless you don't know what youre doing). sorry, I guess all i can say is be more careful and i hope you can support the kid (even though i doubt it'll end up bad).

I see lots of bashing, and this is easy to do when you place yourself on a soapbox.

I suppose none of you have ginen in to thinking with the "wong head" in a moment of passion?

You show me someone that says they are 100% careful all the time, everytime, and I will show you an outright hypocrite and a liar.

Yes, he has gotten himself in this unenviable position, but it seems that the gravity of the situation has struck him, leaving little need for any of us to pile on.

Give the man a break, because you just might need one someday as well.

But I know of some people who have been in your situitation and lived happily ever after with a kid out of this.

Good luck, even though that dosent mean too much

Wow, I really don't know what to say. I guess all I got is I hope she isn't really pregnant, that its just another wave of sickness. If she is however, I wish you both the best of luck, and it's good to know that you're man enough to stay with her and help with the baby. Most guys in your shoes would just take off running and never look back.

Ok guys, I had to wait until today to find out. Turns out, she's not prego. I didn't really think she was, it was just that her mom thought she was and the hospital must have thought it was likely enough to do the test. Plus, I thought her mom "knew" we'd done stuff, and that alone would probably kill us. She's on the pill and we've only done it "unwrapped" a couple of times, I'm not that stupid, I think it was just the way the phone call went and the way I have a tendency to kinda freak when I don't have a good grip on a situation, and I had no control last night, I was just kinda sittin here waiting for a phone call. Appearently, she's just got some really nasty virus and she had a bad reaction to some of the meds they gave her. Sucks though, I gotta find something else to do today since her mom is keeping me away again.

Anyway, thanks a lot for the support folks. Turned out alright.

No, you dont.

There are none so blind as those who will not see, my friend.

Some have been quite negative, despite your assertion. This youngling needed support and friendship, and while may provided this, some held out none.

Such a problem is difficult enough without compounding it.

.Ryan, I am glad to hear that your fears were unfounded. I am sure that you have learned a valuable lesson from this dilemna, one that many who dwell here are going to have to learn the hard way as they become men instead of boys.
