ive been playing paintball for about 6 months with a cheap gun a friend let me have. i think it was a triton from walmart or something.  but i decided to get a good gun so i bought a tippman 98 custom wednesday and after shooting about 200 paintballs through it at various distances i decided that i was going to need a new barrel.  i want something quiet and accurate and easy to clean.  but the accuracy and distance matter more than anything.  at first i was thinking about a 12" whisper barrel but after reading the forums now im thinking of a J&J ceramic or a lapco bigshot.  so which would be better for a woodsball player?  or does anyone knows of any other better barrels for $50 or under?   thanks for the help.

umm the j&j is light, semi quiet, and you can literally shoot your barrel clean but the bigshot is more accurate imo i would go with the bigshot and as for increasing didstance you cant unless you get a barrel that put backspin on the ball (apex, flatline)

as TF had stated both the J&J and the Bigshot are your best bet for the price you had indicated.  Personally I have both barrels(recently purchased the J&J ceramic) and the Bigshot performs slightly better with distance but a little heavier than the J&J and the ceramic barrel is equal in performance with my Classic CP barrel w/o the self cleaning ability.  For distance/accuracy, the Apex would be better IMO, if you can find one in good condition for $50.

Looks-wise no, versatility-wise yes. Accuracy is a little worse with the Apex in my experience.

I'd say get the Lapco Bigshot. The assistant manager at my local paintball store let me test the J&J and the Big Shot. I liked the big shot more but if your lookin for quiet go for the J&J. I have the Big Shot too, it's nice.

I would suggest the Lapco Bigshot.  Very good barrel for the price and will shoot a wide variety of paint well because it is medium bore.

I have owned both barrels for my 98 Custom, and I would definitly say hands doen the lapco Bigshot is better, actually I sold the J&J because the Bigshot was that much more accurate.
