Tho you would need a speacial hopper or a clip to thse into a gun. But they would be worth it because of range and accuracy. |

It will never work because Rifling only spins the outer shell of the paintball, and not the inner paint fill. Therefore the mass of the projectile is not spinning so it would not be anymore accurate than a round fired thorugh a unrifled barrel.

| they use what is called simunitions. they actually have a sabot round that is filled with paint. The rifleing does work all you have to do is do about a half turn over every 2 inches of barrel. but it can't be cut into the barrel or it will cut your paintball. the way that i did it was made my own barrel. i machined it out and then polished it in a spiral. the roughness of the unpolished area grabs the paintball and makes it spin. there is enough spiraling motion to get the inside of the ball to spin as well. if you want to see how it works take a 20 oz pop bottle fill it with water and put it on a treadmill. it DOES work. |

this is not true. there is no empty air in a paintball, and the liquid has a very thick consitency, so the liquid will spin very easily. you can demonstrate this by putting a water bottle on a treadmill, the water will spin. it just takes a second to catch up to the bottle itself, and may in ideal conditions spin ever so slightly slower than the bottle itself, causing drag. paint however is thick and viscous so it would spin easier and closer to the velocity of the shell itself. this is why apex barrels and flatline barrels work. they SPIN the paintball. and the paint inside. now the idea of rifling would work with any shape other than spherical. it would spin a spherical ball obviously, but the spin would cause the ball to curve with the spin, which is an undesireable effect. imagine how the flatline works, backspinning the ball to create a curve upwards as the ball drags itself through the air. now imagine spinning as a rifled barrel would spin it. with an oblong ball it would stabilize the ball and shoot straighter, but with a round ball and the variances in barrel bore and paintball size due to environmental conditions, you could not spin in precisely enough to create this efect. the ball would wobble off in an odd direction. i hope this stops the argument of "paint wont spin" because as the flatline and apex show quite clearly, oh yes it does. ------------- 98 Custom - CP 12" barrel - Delrin Starfire bolt - Double Trig. - Drop Forward - Rocket Cock II - FieldStrip Thumbscrew Kit - Red Dot Elec. No, the type of paint in paintballs is NOT the same type of paint you buy at the store. Quick, go to your gearbag, and grab a paintball out of one of your pods. Now squeeze it open and look at the paint. It is much more fluid than regular paint. Flatlines and the Apex barrel systems operate by creating drag and spin on the ball. A rough spot in the barrel grabs the ball and spins it in an unnatural direct, these results are most effective RIGHT AFTER the ball leaves the barrel, because a paintball cannot sustain an effective spin. This is NOT how rifling works. Rifling spins the bullet in a conical motion straight out of the barrel in order to allow it to slice through the air and REDUCE RESISTANCE, not give it a spin to make it shoot farther. Thrust - (Resistance + Weight) = Flight. Spinning a paintball does not reduce the resistance it meets in the wind, therefore rifling does not increase it's distance. Even if you made a "mini-ball" shaped projectile, the paint would shift to the botom half of which ever side was currently closest to the ground, throwing off all momentum, and as a result acutally LESSENING you distance. Or you could just buy an Armsom stealth barrel. they are rifled all the way though but at a very slow twist. My buddy has one and it will keep up with a flatline but without the hassle. ------------- 1 paintball gun package=$150 1 case of paint=$50 air & entry fee=$15 lighting up newbies all day long= Priceless |

Man o man how I love how people cant except simple physics. A paintball
is not a solid object. the paint on the inside at a slower rate of
speed then the shell it gives the paintball the "wobble" efect. A
simple way too see this is you take a cup of water and put a ice cube
or two in there now spin the cup sure the ice will move but not at all
at the same speed that the cup is spinning at. And I cant believe you just said an armson stealth will keep up with a flatline. That is a LOLer.
