im gonna buy an a-5 in about two weeks and im gonna buy a new barrel. ive read good and bad reviews about both barrels but im still kinda wondering which i should get. im kind of leaning towards the apex barrel because it seems easier to clean, and have much more practicallity compared to the flatline. + its 30-50 bucks cheaper. . just vote and tell me what you think about both barrels, thanks.

I like them both i just think the apex is ugly without a nice shroud.

Get the apex. Do as I am doing and get the adaptor and a bigshot or j&j in the future.
The apex is better will different kinds of paint too. As long as you don't fire brass eagle crap, it won't chop many cheap balls.

im def not getting the J&J ceramic or the lapco bigshot, accuracy isnt my biggest worry. id rather have the range and i like that i can adjust it so the balls dont arch. And i really dont give a crap what my gun looks like. i would shoot a gun that looks like a turd if it worked well.

what??? how can you say it shoots slow??? 300fps is 300 fps outside the barrel. i could fire a paintball out of a bigshot or a cardboard tube and if they both chrono'd at 300 fps then they would both be shooting at the same speed

the apex cause you have distance and if your in a tight situation just turn it till you shoot around corners

I got an APEX and have only used it once so far. I was not too impressed. It chopped paint like crazy and had a rediculous drop off on it for the distance shots (like the ball sunk like 5 feet.. i was shooting off of an elevated deck and the balls were hitting the ground) but they to level off and they do go really REALLY far... just not very accuratly. I then tried my 14 inch JJ barrel. that is alot more accurate, but you get no where near the distance. Also, the Apex's ability to shoot around and over stuff was cool, I was able to shoot into as well as around a garbadge barrel with the curve feature (which took a little adjusting). I would say that between the flatline and the Apex, Definatly get the APEX. with the flatline, every time you want to clean your gun you have to realign the thing, which is a pain. also, cleainin the apex is really easy as is installing it. The problems i was having were probably not all related to the barrel. I was shooting 5 month old paint using CO2 and a responce trigger when it was like 20 degrees out. however, if you want accuracy over distance, id say get a JJ barrel

It doesn't shoot slow, It just look slow due to the backspind. Get a Flatline cause it's a Tippmann, which means good quality...

i dont like flatlines as in my experience, few balls break. someone on my team was shooting really fast and hit a guy like 4-5 times and no breaks.

I was always under the impression people wanted barrels that shoot straight. Yes it may hook balls into small corners but so many conditions have to be met that its basically impractical......distance, velocity, balls, wind...etc...

apex.(and not just because i have one). also, like sniper44 said, 300fps is
300fps, no matter how you look at it. it works better with smaller, textured
shelled balls, because if it's set too high, it'll catch the bigger ones in the
end of the barrel(just my experience). also, playing some recreational airball,
i've gotten a few outs with the curve feature. only thing: it's short, with very
little porting, so it's kinda loud. only bad thing: it's VERY hard to clean in the
middle of a game.

Apex for sure there is not even any comparasion dont get me wrong i am tippmann all the way but the apex is just leaps and bounds above the flatline it is easily just as accurate and has the curve features which work very well

^ i agree, a hooked/sliced ball would be useless in 99.9% of situations. by the time youve got the barrel switched to the right mode, youll probably be shot anyways.

i find when playing paintball i realy dont have the time to look were my enemy at then look at my barrel and set it so it can shoot around a corner. Because by that time my target has probly adavanced on me and has shoot me or binned me down. Tahts why i wont get an apex I have a flatline and its not perfect i wish it was more acruate. But it gives the range you need me and a buddy held of 15 people guys with 2 flatline sfor 25 mins got 8 outs and most balls shot at us just fell to the ground. get a flatline its werth it

I'm gonna have to say Apex. I received mine yesterday and I tested it with some cheap paint (Scorch). IMO it is more accurate than my friend's 98 Flatline and goes much further.

Definatly go for the apex... it's much easier to clean and if dirt get's inside of it, it still has more accuracy than the flatline, and it's less $ and the flatline is just too loud for stealth and suprising them because if you shoot at them and miss they'll definatly know where you are!
So by all means the smart paintballer would go towards the apex, and the ones who are really smart would lean towards getting a jj ceramic cuz sure... they're are a little more $ but they will beat any other barrel out there in woodsball,speedball...etc.
so if i were you and i had a choice between a apex and flatline... the apex would definatly win my vote

think normal apex or flatline... but faster...
