hey guys looking for little help if possible. i got the 98 custom bought it off of ebay about a month ago and used it every weekend except today. i dropped a few drops on the tank and dry fired gun a few times without barrel. when i put the barrel on, it sounds like i have no air. pull barrel off and it fires. i dont know to much about just got back into pb after 20 yrs of not playin. what i know about the gun is it has Reactive Trigger Kit -Double Trigger -Dye Sticky Grips -Gas Through Stock -Palmer Stablizer With Gauge -Tasco Red Dot Sight -Custom Camo Paint -Polished Internals -All Stainless Steel Hardware -Rear Velocity Adjuster. and with all this stuff on it also makes it hard to adjust to peak performance.a pic of it is available at necehome.com right on the front page. if anyone has any ideas id apreciate it. thanks

You lost me (not hard to do BTW).

So with the barrel on, gassed up, it sounds like air is just rushing through the gun?

With the barrel off, everything is normal?

no air at all with barrel on. tank is fresh. when dry firing with barrel off u can hear and feel the air but sounds weak. im currently looking at the power tube i feel it is there that i have a problem. apears my son messed with the velocity screw and took it right out. dont know if thats a bad thing but in manuals it says not to remove it

ok makes perfect sense now. what happened was when i cleaned the gun after last match i put the rubber ball catch in backwards on assembly. which now is in right and the gun works fine now.

 lesson learned

Probably was, but just in such a minuscule quantity that you could not hear it.

Just so others understand what was happening, with the ball detent installed back-wards it blocks the full forward movement of the front bolt. Because the front bolt is attached to the rear bolt (hammer) via the actuation rod, the rear bolt was blocked enough that it only slightly touched the valve pin releasing hardly any gas. This also might prevent the hammer from re-cocking because not enough gas would be released to blow-back the hammer to the cocked position.
