So I spent maybe 5-10 hours trying to force a computer to load Win2KPro.(CS Server)

Wouldn't boot from CD.

So I pieced together two equally crappy boxes, got Ubuntu 5.10 base server installed, connected it to the network, and now I have a fileserver and more cool points than you.

Let the senseless linux-obsessing begin.

I really don't think we can argue with that what so ever. We just have to quietly admit defeat and try to regain what is left of our dignity.

I've been trying to work out a dual boot with Ubuntu. Grub Bootloader seems to hate me though.

A friend of mine made a Half-Life Deathmatch server using Gentoo recently. It's pretty cool.

Awesome, linux rocks.  I believe Ubuntu is the best OS for personal use, but for a server?  Why not run CentOS or Fedora if its strictly a server?

Which one(s) is(are) your favorite(s) Enos?
Anybody wanna teach me how to make a 3DsMax/After Effects render farm with 8-12 old Duron machines and an extremely low software budget?

I just put Ubuntu on a spare computer in my house just to get a feel for it cause I never used Linux before. I just want to get my feet wet with it and explore around and read up on it.

Do you have any recommendations Shenk? Or MBro? Or anybody else?

I know MBro likes ubuntu. Enos doesn't really like linux. I'm probably going to start off by putting DSL on one of my spare computers in the house. Then I'll go from there.
