Subject: why i hate my job....
Date Posted: 28 April 2006 at 6:00pm
This is to be an open topic where everyone can rant and rave about their crappy job... ====================================================== This is why i hate my job...i work at a packaging/production plant. i work on the production side and we do powdered drinks. the product that we are working on now is kinda an off brand koolaid...dyes the crap out of your skin...takes weeks for the stuff to come out...
but thats not why i hate my job...
the reason that i hate my job is because they hire through a temp service...nothing against the whole temp thing, thats how i got the job in the first place...its just that they recently changed to a bottom of the barrel temp service and now we cant keep anyone around who speaks english (again, not trying to offend anyone, its just hard to tell someone what to do when they dont know the diffrence between a pallet jack and a mop bucket---yea, it happend to me...) anyways. this week has been horrible...first i had a spanish man working with me...nice guy, knew some english, but couldnt read it. my supervisor got rid of him quick too bad he was a good worker. next we got some guy who was laid off from a construction job for a few weeks...well, no sense trying to train someone who will only be around till next week or so....bye bye buddy... now today i get a 20 yr old whiteboy (speaks/reads english) who appears to be a good worker...YAY!!! i dont have to work alone!!!
NOT!!!!!!
one of the other temps decided to go home sick and i got screwed over and the super took my buddy away to help out where the sicky left....
ARGH!!!!!!!
thats why i hate my job.

I'm a mobilty technition. Which basically means I work on power wheelchairs and electric scooters. Some of the equipment I have to work on is covered with feces, urine, vomit, and spilled food and drink. I have to drive to the customers home so I drive about 300-500 miles a day. Some of these people are old bitter angry wastes of flesh. I think I'll just drive into a tree on my 70th birthday so I don't end up like that.

tell you the truth...it is kinda hard...
we put about 2000 lbs into a machine that sprays water and air onto the mix (yea thats right, WATER!!!). what that does is helps the small particles stick together into big ones. if you use too much water, or stop watching it for a while, it will either solidfy into one big 2000 lb chunk of koolaid or will just turn to jelly and ooze out the bottom of the machine. when you get the chunk, it will either take about 4 hrs to break it up enough to get it to dump out, or 10 hrs to spray water on it enough to dissolve it.
if you dont spray enough water on it, it will not dissolve right and you have to put it back into the machine for a while, again risking a 2000 block of crap.
so yea, it is a pretty complicated process

I'm not a huge fan of my job.
The only reason I'm still there is because I was given a promotion to line cook and a raise. I still might be quitting within a month or two so I can get a job near Oakland University.
My job sucks because I come in at 3:50 most days (scheduled at 4:00), and nothing is ever done for me. I usually end up having to stock for the night, as well as do the morning person's prep-work. Then I have to restock so that I don't get yelled at for "screwing the morning person over," even though they always screw me over.
If I'm lucky, I'll get done with whatever the morning person left for me by 5:30, which is usually about when my dinner rush starts. Then I have constant orders from 5:30 to about 9:00. After that I clean my station, the waitresses' station, about 1/3 of the line, and sweep & mop about 75% of the kitchen. Then I can leave... usually by 11pm.
Lately I've been working 11am-9pm shifts or 9am-9pm shifts too, and I haven't had a weekend day off in a few weeks.
Oh yeah... it's getting hot, and there's no A/C in the kitchen so if often goes up to 130*+ in the summer.

There has to be a regulation on working environments that should prevent such a hot workplace.
Either way, 12 hour shifts have to suck. I had to pull a 14 hour shift
once working for someone, and it was unbearable. I couldnt pull of sch
long shifts for so long.

i think that there are regulations against those kind of working environments. my dad worked at a foundry and when it got too hot they would take breaks every ten minutes...
as for 12 hr shifts, depends on what kind. i have worked 12 hr rotating shifts...work monday, tuesday off wed. thurs. work fri sat sun...off mon, tues. work wed, thurs, off fri sat sun.
that was kinda nice...worked out to be about 4 hrs extra every 2 weeks. the only prob is it screws with your schedule.

we spent the weekend cleaning up before a big audit and on sat. he went home sick when he realised that he would be cleaning. and today he said that he felt sick about 2 min. in to the day...he stayed though. but most of the day he spent out on break...the rest he stood around and watched other people, looked at his shoes and giggled, or just kinda spaced out...

Overall, my job is ok. I repair video game systems and sell games/systems and game accessories. Customers can get a little old at times. Our store owner is really hot but clueless... and married . My coworkers are fun to be around. We pretty much set around and play pranks on each other and talk about games and movies. My manager is a total ass though.

I have no qualms with screwing with customers.
The other day this lady orders a fruit and walnut salad.
"Hold on lemme see if we have any"
*opens tiny little countertop fridge, wait for 3 min infront of it staring at nothing*
"Yeah I am going to need to check in the back"
*3 min of waiting in the cooler*
"Yeah...we're out....sorry"
Customer: "Well what am I supposed to do? I already paid!"
"See we have this new thing, this new policy called a 'Reee-fuuund' where if we dont have somthing, you get your money back. Amazing huh?"
She walked off.
I can't see why.

why I hate my job? I'm a Correctional Officer.
I get to see the true scum of the planet...the 'block' of child molesters...the rapists...the gang members...and young punks trying to be cool or w/e. Yep...must be real cool to do 1.5-3 years for threatening someone...2.5-5 for assaulting someone...15-30 for robbery and life because they were drinking before they were old enough and ran someone over with a car...did/sold some kinda drug that killed a toddler that got ahold of the stuff...drug addicts going through withdrawl...mentally unstables not taking their meds....real treat...
...yeah...and you wanna know why I do it? to keep the law abiding safe by keeping them confined. There's no glory at the pointed end of a shank...just to get a good pension that takes care of me and my family when I'm old...

Newfound (kinda) reason to hate my job.
As most know, this weekend is Mother's Day.
Well, it's bad enough that I have to work Mother's Day (my mom isn't too happy about it), but now 2 people who were scheduled quit in the same day. So I got to work and found out that instead of a 5-day week, I now have a 6-day week, and we are understaffed on Mother's Day, which is one of the busiest days of the year.
Between school, work, and the 15 page paper I'm writing, this is an 85+ hour work-week for me.

I enjoy my job. In fact I enjoy it alot.
I am a paramedic working in an emergency room. I deal with drunks, the mentally ill, Drug seekers, and everyonce in awhile. Someone who is truly sick.
Hell, a couple of days ago I had the opportunity to wrestle a drunk, deaf, and mentally ill woman who was covered in blood from a head laceration. She was trying her best to smash her face into the bed rail because she felt her perscription of anti depressants was not enough.
Never at any point in my life would I have guessed I would be in that situation.
The only aspect of my job that I dislike is some of the people.
