Have you considered the Ion?
What kind of paintball do you play?
What is your total budget, including accesories, air tank, etc?

if you are new, get a basic custom pro or maybe just a regular custom.  deside if you wanna play enough to get serious.  good luck.

NASA and the Americans spent millions of dollars and hundreds of hours to develop a pen that would write in space.....The Russians used a pencil.

dont go spending tons of money at first...start off basic with something customizable...but dont start customizing until you are sure that you want to continue playing

my friend bought a $400 autococker used it once and has not played since...now he just loans it to other people

98s are the most abundant marker (at least where i live).  the prices to get them repaired (if you can't do it yourself) are dirt cheap.  plus, they don't have any polymer like the a-5.  not that the polymer is not durable, but it's just not as durable as aluminum....  also, because of their popularity, alot of upgrades are available to suit your tastes....  i wish i would have gone with a 98 instead of my a-5.... but that's just my tastes....  A-5s are still great markers.

It's 2017 and I guess this thread should be updated with the new improved markers.
Try Tippmann 98 custom, Tippmann a5, Tippmann Cronus they all are super cool paintball markers.
I also found something interesting on this website also  http://prospaintball.com/best-paintball-guns/" rel="nofollow - http://prospaintball.com/best-paintball-guns/ and they recently reviewed some new markers from Tippmann there too.
