A heads up to the Pirates of the forum.
http://sideonedummy.com/bands.php?band_name=Flogging_Molly - http://sideonedummy.com/bands.php?band_name=Flogging_Molly
Flogging Molly's documentary, "Whiskey on a Sunday" is set to debut July 25th.
You can click on the link, and go down to the "Video Player" section and watch two clips.
It looks like its going to be a must own for any fan. Lots of commentary from the band and, most of all what I like about it, explination on the origins of some of the songs.
At the end of the trailor is a clip of Dave King explaining where "Son Never Shines (On Closed Doors)" came from, and its just about heartbreaking.
I will pre-order mine for sure.

I haven't been able to find information on it since I have heard about it.
I thought it came out last week but all they did was rerelease "Alive Behind the Green Door" which I already own.
I thought they were because Tower Records said Flogging Molly DVD was scheduled for release that day.
As for the CD, I would love some more songs like Drunken Lullabies(the actual song). I am going to agree with tae though. WAMOH is alot more mature and personal. Only problem is the whole CD was like that. I hope they mix it up on the new one.
Still love Tobacco Island though.
EDIT: After watching the movies I now can't wait to see it.

I dunno, I still kinda liked it.
Not bashing Drunken Lullabies or Swaggar [the albums] at all, they reflected Dave King's life at that point in time. They were two fun albums. But when you want to get into some meat, and get past the stereotypical Irish drinking songs, Within A Mile Of Home had alot more to offer.
The Spoken Wheel / Wonder & A Wild Desire is one of the greatest things I have ever heard.
Anyway, I here is a pic I took of the band awhile back. Finally got it hosted.

For any of the forum's Bassists, what kind of bass is that he is holding??

I've got to get their back cataloge. I picked up Swagger about a year and a half ago and loved it. Now I need to get the rest, after I complete the Cake collection. One CD a month sucks.

They only have three other albums and various other things. Drunken Lullabys is more of the patriotic, irish style songs. Within a Mile Of Home, which is the more mature sounding album, and Alive Behind The Green Door, their live album.
They also have a single out, with a live and very very fast version of Selfish Man, recorded at Warped Tour 2004 in LA.
On the Warped Tour 2002 comp, they have a live version of Every Dog Has It's Day recorded live from Sacremento, I think.

| Meh. I'm not really a fan of Gaelic Storm. I like Flogging Molly because they're loud(er) and fast(er).

its a resonator bass. cant tell the brand though. love em. great sound. its like a different kind of acustic, instead of a sound hole, it has a parabolic or conical "resonator" chamber.

I went and saw it in Orlando.
It was really good. Worth picking up or at least watching even if you are not an avid fan, it really gives you a sense of the work that has gone into their music.
The thing scans from following them on a tour of the world, from US to Europe, to personal interviews with the people who saw them grow as a band and helped them, to the bands struggle to fit in without being labeled, to how each person wound up in the band.
Some very very sad parts, and some very funny parts.
After watching it I have re-listened to all the songs, and I am picking things up from the songs that Dave King explained through stories of his childhood and past.
Top notch.

The accoustic versions of the already famous songs are amazing. Very slowed down, a much more folk feel.
I cannot wait.
